Looking at the skin in this pictures, I can see how severe the plucking was. Anyhow, the good thing is that Bobby doesn't have any skin disease. As for the re growth, that shouldn't be an issue if there is no damage to feather follicles. Only an avian vet or time will tell that. Just check if there is anything like infection, irritation or so and the skin looks fine.

He has no tail feathers, BB, or rather his little tail is only about as long as the wee little guys you are raising now. Would the hen have plucked these out as well?

Hopefully his feathers will grow back, poor little fella.
As long as he has love, care, food, toys and water he will be a happy Birdy.

Here's hoping they will grow back too, but regardless of that he is an adorable little birdy!

Thanks. I will. Its seems his feathers on the right side are starting to grow back but not as noticable on his left. Hus neck is also bare but could be showing signs of regrowth. My concern at the moment is that mine and bobbies relationship seems to be not a strong. He will sit on my finger in the cage but wont come out. He also moves away from me more than usual at the moment. What are some good foods I can bribe him with to make him love me again?

Millet!! Most budgies cannot resist a spray of millet so cut yourself a small piece off a spray and ofer this to him while you have your hand in the cage. I will also add that quite often young budgies (and some older ones, Joey ) are reluctant to venture out of the cage; the cage becomes their haven, so don't take his rejection personally. Also remember he has been shunted from pillar to post in the very short time of his life, and most of these moves will have been traumatic for him. Keep trying with him, but don't despair if it takes some time for him to settle down and start to respond. As for "loving you again", sorry, but he hasn't gotten there yet. You want him to, but trust and the love that follows isn't lightly given in the budgie world. It must be earned, and he hasn't been with you long enough for him to feel comfortable with you. You say your relationship is not as strong? I think you are seeing Bobby realise that he does have a say in what he does; he does have the ability to make a decision to not hop onto your hand ....... now you have to earn is trust so that he wants to do as you ask. Budgies are not like dogs who are willing to please. This may all see a little negative to you, and I am sorry if it seems that way, but you need to be willing to put time and effort into taming and training, and into just spending time with him. Patience and persistence are the keys to good budgie-owner relationship, and as the old Pantene ad went, it won't happen over-night, but it will happen.

My Joey, that was mentioned, will vouch for and second everything that Hezz has said.Joey and myself have been together almost a year now. He will come out of the cage on my finger, but only when he wants to. He didn't give a hoot, or whistle, for millet. Even now when he will ravage a spray, if used as a lure to do something he doesn't want to he will turn his beak up and do without. Don't despair, Bobby may be totally different. All the buds have their own character and personality so don't ever think you have done something wrong.
