Ah, SQ; I really hope so; and thank you. The plaster does look enormous, I agree, probably the photo makes it look worse. I would be much happier if he had some of his normal seed mix, not just the millet, but as samwiseg has said, we all feel awful after an anaesthetic, so I imagine he does as well. My challenge, and I do chose to accept it, is getting some weight back over that keelbone of his. Poor boy has lost weight, and was a light-weight beforehand. At least this way he won't be giving up all the good stuff to Smudge. With no company, and the little fella is missing that, getting restless, I am getting in lots of cheek scratches ........ I think I need to build up a few brownie points for when the next round of dosing has to happen. Keep those good thoughts coming, please and I will update as and when things happen. Thank you!

Spyro looks like a brave little soldier with his bright red cast. Everything will be good now that he is home with his family. My very best thoughts forever and ever.

Why not just let him eat millet for now Hezz if that's what he fancies after his anaesthetic, and indulge him for a day or so, it might even help build him up a bit! Eating is eating at this stage I feel and as soon as you turn your back he'll be eating the seed but trying to cover it up so you keep the millet supply coming.

Only just caught up with this thread Hezz, so sorry to read your news, but pleased that it is becoming more positive now. Spyro will feel loads better being at home with you so should get stronger as the days go by. Good luck with your next visit to the vet and my thoughts are with you both. Keep positive, we're all routing for you both across the water.

Wow that plaster is HUGE, love him, he sure could do with a little pair of crutches, it should well support the leg. He will do much better at home surrounded by all that is familiar to him im sure . Is he leaving it alone Hezz, not trying to chew at it?

I'm glad he's doing ok, albeit a bit annoyed, but who wouldn't be with that ginormous thing on their leg? lol. Wishing him all the best,

Oh bless him, I have never seen a budgie in plaster before! (bottom lip out here!)
Its great news that Spyro is home, he is one determined little guy & sounds like he is trying to not let that plaster get in his way. Sending healing wishes that Spyro will make a full recovery. xxx

Well after an unsettled start to the evening he seemed to settle down even if it was perched on the ruler. I have to use something to keep the covering cloth away from the water fountain or the water seeps up into the cloth, so on last view that was were he was perched, after numerous attempts to move him off, he simply went straight back on, and by the pile of poop, that is where he stayed last night. Tonight I will be better prepared and organise him a small container of water for the night. skysmum, I have seen him nibbling at the plaster, or at the feathers around the top of the plaster. The times I have seen this is when he has been preening himself so he seems o be trying to fix that ugly thing that isn't supposed to be there. I haven't seem him worry it today but am looking out for signs that he is distressed by it. So far, so good. This morning he has had some of every food in his cage: millet, seed, grass and eggfood, so I'm much happier about that. And he has been much more settled with the others around as well. Yesterday he was not. He was trying to join them, flying up the walls of the cage etc and really quite agitated, but today he is much calmer. Keep those good thoughts coming, please.

Good thoughts coming Spyro's way, Hezz. He's a little trouper, adjusting so well to his hospital ward. Just picture the healing process happening, see that little leg becoming strong again with all the good food and love from near and far!

I'm really pleased he is showing signs of recuperating. I hope the leg is on the mend as well. I pit the crutches smilie in because they were mentioned a couple of times. I was always taught that laughter is the best medicine, even if it only raises a smile.

In that photo, I can't see exactly what's going on. Is his foot/claw inside or outside the plaster?

Good boy Spyro, eat plenty of food to help your little leg get better. I bet the plaster is really getting on his nerves but he is calmer which is brilliant to hear.
