For 3 nights running I have had to catch Cagney & put him in the Manor. Bezukhov refuses to go back in, though during the day he does favour the water in there (it's the same as Phinny's water). I can understand that he now associates the manor with me catching him in the morning for medication. He & C are thick as thieves so that means C does not go in. Fortunately, I have managed to catch Cagney & once he's in the manor (& quite happy, I might add!) then Bezukhov wants to join him. It's all a major kerfuffle. It's such a problem. I can relate. Boo hates being caught because he had several months of being caught, taken to the vet, and subjected to force feeding and multiple uncomfortable x-rays. It wasn't pleasant for him and went on for so long. Unfortunately they do quickly associate catching up and the places they are caught up with bad things, because it's true. I wish I had an easy solution for you. Stace, if you haven't found an easy solution with Boo then there's no hope here! Well it's now time for the evening shenanigans to begin. Will they or won't they go home of their own accord? Will Cagney have wised up to me catching him? If yes, it's game over! How can such little creatures wield such power?!

God what a nightmare for you SP! I can only sympathise with your situation as I know catching a bud is truly an impossible task at times! Especially once "they know" How did it go last night sweetpea?

Especially once "they know" How did it go last night sweetpea? Strangely.... it wasn't too bad. Bezukhov hopped on my finger & I swiftly moved him into the manor. The problem was that I think he thought that Cagney would follow but Cagney decided to stay out a little longer. That meant that B got restless inside the manor & wanted to come out again to be with C. So then even if I got C on my finger, opening the manor to get him in could mean B coming out. But luckily enough C hopped on my finger & I managed to get him in without B coming out. Nothing is straightforward.... I am constantly having to think on my feet & revise my plans!

I don't want to put the kibosh on it, but do you think you may be winning?

I don't want to put the kibosh on it, but do you think you may be winning? It's a lovely thought, OP, & I will wallow in it for the rest of the day, but I suspect it was a one-off. Right now, they are all sat in Phinny's cage. Tumbleweeds roll through the manor during the day....

Tumbleweeds roll through the manor during the day.... How how's it all going sweetpea? How is Bezukhov? Hi JennyB. Bezukhov seems fine in himself. He still looks terrible because of the syrupy medicine all stuck to his chin & cheek feathers. His weight appears to have stabilised at around 44g. I am still attempting to get medicine into him each morning. Today was a real battle of wills. Such struggling & wriggling. It was going on for so long that I abandoned the task as I was aware of stress levels (his & mine!) He got about 70% of the important meds & 40% of the syrup. I have given up trying to second guess their thoughts. From abandoning the manor (once they are out) & then refusing to go to bed, yesterday they spent the whole day in there. Today they seem to be flitting between the two cages so it might suggest another easy evening putting them to bed. But then again.... who knows?!

I'm glad he's okay in himself. I only spent a week catching my two to give them medicine and that was with them in a cage and that was stressful enough for us all so I really feel for you and yours going through a much harder time of it. I hope it all pays of for the little guy. Xx

I had the cloth wrapped twice around him but he still managed to rotate & then curl into a ball. They are all sat in Phinny's cage now so it looks like the manor is out of flavour again, suggesting bedtime shenanigans.

Sweetpea, that was one of the funniest things I have ever read, and I could relate to every word of it from when I had my first little budgie. It hade me in fits of laughter.

I should perhaps add that it's best not to let any of your buds read that blog post.... It should have an HG (Human Guidance) certificate.

You poor stress bunny. I'm so glad my vet tries to formulate most meds to go in water.
