Thanks all Am off to the vet this morning with sample and diary. Fingers crossed! I dont know how long it takes for a faecal sample to be processed? Probably too quick for my bank balance but hey Alfie is worth it

Best of luck Sam, let's hope the cost is not too high. Who said budgies go cheap, cheap. Love the new avatar.

How did it go Sam?
Can they actually detect an iodine problem in their poo?

How did it go Sam? Can they actually detect an iodine problem in their poo? I don't think they can Marianne but if the faecal test shows no conclusive result I am planning to discuss the iodine deficiency as (dare I say) he is more or less 100% now apart from needing to put on a bit of weight. I didn't see the vet just dropped off the sample and diary. Am glad as I didn't want to put him through another long journey unless absolutely necessary. They have informed me that Lara will be calling me next week with the results so I will chat with her then. She would have had time to review his daily diary too. His poops are back to normal colour today and are not so wet. Keep your fingers crossed guys Oh and thanks OP re the avatar

So has his poor neck returned to normal, with the iodine, Sam? Nearly yes! His swollen neck has gone down and his feathers are not so "skew whiff" which is unbelievable?! I really do hope this is the answer, as we then know what we are dealing with (fingers crossed)

And the squeak has gone? That is all very diagnostic, in my humble opinion.

Ok, here we are (with added visitor) and Dont know if you can notice but his feathers aren't claggy and wet round his face any more as he is not regurgitating, but he does need a bath! LOL! Apologies for the delay but I have been having issues with tinypic so have had to use flickr instead and it took me a little while longer than usual Oh and dont think Murph has just come to visit Alfie, he has just come to help him tackle the millet (well....all best mates share stuff, right?)
