That vid is adorable, look how she is tucking them up to keep them warm , your such a good mum Izzy I am proud of her but she seems like a single mum at the mo! Rio isn't doing much to help, even nudges her off of the veg bowl so he can get his first. When I see her come out I'll often go in and feed her myself though so she gets first dibs! Rio will happily sit, feeding and preening his buddy Frankie all day though!

Thank you for sharing the video. I loved watching the little ones. They're so helpless. Hoping and praying everything goes well and chicks are all healthy and doing well. Cannot wait to see the next chick!!

Izzy is being a truly great mum. Too bad Rio is being a bit of a waste as a father, so far, anyway. C'mon, Rio! Lift your game!!!

Nature is such a wonderful thing. I love to see Izzy looking after the babies and the unhatched eggs. Fantastic!

If anyone has advice I would appreciate it please... We should have another baby tomorrow and the last one should hatch on Saturday. Thats if they are fertile.. So far at least two seem to be infertile. I was thinking maybe I should give it until Sunday or Monday and then remove whatever eggs are left. Is this the right thing to do? Or could it freak mum out? Would be grateful for any advice if anybody has been in this position or knows what's best... Thank you

Give Izzy and the eggs a bit longer than that ...... I don't really have a time in mind, but I do remember a very experienced member having a chick hatch out very late. He had been going to toss the egg; luckily he waited another day or two, and it wasn't just a day late but days. If I thought I had a hope in hell of finding the thread, I would go looking but that would be the end of my day. Why not give her a week? You might find that she kicks the eggs out anyway, if they don't seem to be doing anything.

Thanks Hezz , I'll give it longer (will see if I can find the thread too thank you). I got in from work last night and flicked the screen on. I hadn't seen the chicks for two or three days due to my shifts and was amazed at how big they are. Izzy didn't look too comfortable sitting on the little monsters... Must be strange laying on a couple of wriggling things and, to us 4 footballs!

Thank you Congratulation on your little chicks I am not a breeder but I can remember a breeder on another forum advising a member to leave infertile eggs in the nest as they can help prevent splayed legs. I have had a quick search and found this www.cutelittlebirdiesaviary.com/splayed-leg-prevention-and-treatment.html

I know I don't breed budgies, but that is a very interesting and informative link you posted feathers about infertile eggs and splayed legs. I have found lots of 'silly' tips like this regarding chickens, it is so helpful, and such minor 'adjustments' can make such a difference with all sorts of things. There are a lot of really experienced people out there to get this kind of information from. The internet is such a wonderful tool.
