All good suggestions, above. The only other suggestion I can offer if these don't work is to get a pot of the same colour as the ones in the new cage, but the same idea as the ones she is used to, and get her eating out of them first, then put them into the cage right beside, or in front of, the new feeders; get her eating out of this one and then take it away leaving the one that comes with the new cage. I don't know the cage, sorry, so I am flying blind a bit, and what I am envisaging might not be possible .......

I know exactly what you mean about those feeders budgiebudgie as my lot didn't take to them - I think it is the fact they dont like putting their heads in the actual feeder because they feel at risk Are they like these ones? I replaced them with these as they sit more or less outside of the cage: (scroll down to my post) budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/6464/hagen-cages?page=3Keep us updated

I'm just glad that there was something in the post that could help. They are fussy little blighter's at times. One thing about the swivel type pots is that when a budgie sticks their head in they can see unusual things all around them which can unnerve them until they become used to it. I used to have a Ferplast Piano 7, until a hen stripped a load of paint off, but the seed pots clipped into a little container that swivelled round and was kept in place with a little catch. This meant that the ones without pots could be left empty and just secured with the little catch.

I had the swivel pots with the piano 6 too. My lot didn't like them either. I used other pots. The older style pots (non swivel) were more acceptable, less deep & the opening for their head was wider. The new "improved" ones are probably better for finches!

sweetpea, OP, samwiseg - the picture samwiseg posted is exactly right. These are the swivel feeders. Bimbo has eaten from them (last night when I was watching Peaky Blinders) but not very much today. I think I know why. When I observed her at the feeder last night, she had to bend her neck into the plastic. It must be like laying your neck on a block. I haven't had a really good look at the way they are attached to the cage yet this evening, but I will do tomorrow as I'm considering taking them off IF they can be detached from the cage. samwiseg, is that what you did?

If they are like the ones I had for the Ferplast cage there was two parts to the swivel bit. One part could be taken out of the swivel part leaving the swivel part in the cage. I could then either swivel the swivel part inwards or leave it outwards and still lock it in place.

Yes I did take both parts out as the swivel seed trough sits inside the frame (which can be removed easily) and then you have the plastic frame which can also be removed (but not so easily!) It does leave quite a hole so you may want to block up the possible exit with some extra budgie safe wire across it OR just leave the swivel ones in place (like OP said) and just have them on the outside permanently and place the new silo feeders somewhere else i.e next to it? Here is a picture of mine:

The picture of the seed feeder was not what showed up originally samwiseg. Can't remember exactly what it was but there were 3 people in the picture, definitely NOT your seed dish. Gremlins at work again lol.

All I saw was a fountain style feeder, Sam, but if by some chance it changes again, this is a screen shot of what is showing for me just now:

Strange! But we got there in the end. Thanks, @samwiseg - it's useful to see what's possible in place of the seed trough. Overall, I don't think the new cage is a total success. There are a few reasons for this: - Bimbo is grumpier than usual. She quacks / warns me, if I put my hand in the cage. She didn't do this before. She also seems more reluctant than she was previously to come out and play. In fact, she has only come out when lured with a plastic penguin. I don't know what's the matter with her. She was my little feathered friend before, but now she's treating me like the enemy. - She does not fly between the higher perches, which was kind of the point of getting the bigger cage - so she could fly when confined. Instead, she clambers laboriously across the bars. It looks potentially awkward or tough on her feet(?) - She really isn't keen on the feeders and it looks like it might be quite an effort to plug the holes if I remove the plastic. Of these issues, I'm most bothered about the first. Having said all this, it hasn't even been a week yet. She may need more time to get familiar with her new home. Perhaps she's cross that I changed her cage? Perhaps she's not getting enough sleep because of the long hours of daylight? (although I have started hanging a towel over the window to help with this). I wish she would be the same as before.
