Thanks for sorting out the pictures for me Marianne Marlow. I may have said this before, but it was lovely to meet Nina and Ziyad and of course Suraj, they were all lovely people and a special thanks for Nina for arranging to rescue this dear little bird, also for all the bags of budgie goodies she gave us!! I must say she is a feisty little girl and koo, does she bite? Medicated feet look so much better already. They now look soft and not dry and cracked as they were yesterday. She still has a red mark on one foot, but I will medicate that daily til it has gone. Her poops are fine. I am at a loss to understand how pet shops sell bad things for budgies. The perches Smudge had were plastic and although round on the top, I suppose semi circular, they were rough and hollow underneath. Nasty things. Smudge is in the conservatory at the moment, while it is not too hot, doors open, and she is sitting in the sunshine, (not through the glass) so second dose of VitD today!! I will no doubt have to start a separate thread for updates on health issues and eventually pictures of her meeting the gang!! Lovely to read all your posts btw.

I forgot to add that I have put a rope perch in Smudgies cage, she didn't like it to start with - it was going to kill her after all!! Am going to get another one today hopefully, these should help her poorly feet. She also has GA in her water for the second day.

All sounds good Shirls. I bet the feeling of the nice soft perches are heaven to her little feet. Can I ask how you are medicating them Shirls?

I'm sure she'll love the rope perch. Billybob and Jojo's feet don't grip very well as they came with branches for much larger birds and couldn't grip them properly when I got them.
JoJo has a rope perch and seems to much favour it over the normal budgie sized branches they have in their cage.

Poor Smudge. Bless her. She is in the right hands. Ouchie having sore feet. Bless the poor Love. So glad that she is okay. At least with the biting You. You know that she is okay. And it hurts. As I found out when George bit me earlier. Because I moved their toy so I coukd clean the perch

Shirls perhaps you might consider getting Smudge a wooden corner platform in case she wants to have a rest? I have some and ooccasionally a budgie will lay down on one.

That is a thought Marianne Marlow, thank you for the suggestion. I will have a look for one. Her cage is very adequate for the time being, so I may have problems finding a corner platform that will fit but be big enough for her to sit on. She is doing really well and is definitely brighter today. She is eating and drinking well and yesterday my daughter hand fed her a millet bobble which she absolutely devoured!! I gave her another later on in the day and she really loves millet. She is at the moment in the conservatory and there is a very large window (sliding doors) between her and the other buds whom I have just let out. If a budgie can stand back in amazement - she did - when she saw Billy Boy do a couple of laps round this room.

awww... she is probably thinking, what is that re the other buds
have you tried the Natural Bird Company, Karen could help and even do custom sized ones.
So glad she is eating and drinking well.. I am sure she will be as right as rain soon.

I'm glad that she is lively and eating well, it's a great sign and well done to your daughter and you for hand feeding her some millet.
Do you have an idea of her age? I can't remember if it was mentioned.

Thank you and your partner for delivering the new bird to his home safely ninz1 you're a star! If I had the money Marianne, I'd jump on a plane to rescue an animal! I know you would Nina! After talking to you, it's obvious how much you care about animals. It's great that Ziyad is so supportive too, he's a keeper!

She has iris rings Marianne Marlow, and from memory I think ninz1 said that Suraj had had her for two years. She looks young to me and the bars down the back of her head are all smudgey!! (Hence the name).
