Poor Teddy. I hope you see a difference in him tomorrow starlingqueen, once he sleeps off the effects of the anaesthetic. I hope you manage to get some rest tonight yourself.

Poor boy. I always feel crap after anaesthetic. I am sure he will feel a lot better after a night's sleep.

Poor little guy, I hope his healing goes well. Maybe he's not used to having more sight yet, and that's partly why he's crying.

He's never really had anything major done before and has never had to wear a cone before so he's a bit pee'd off to be honest.

Aw poor Teddy and poor YOU. I hope last night wasn't too bad for you both, I expect you are more worried than Teddy to be honest. How are things this morning Wendy? Keeping fingers crossed that Teddy gets over his ordeal very soon.

Thank you for all your lovely messages, it makes a hard time that bit more tolerable. Last night wasn't too bad. Teddy settled down after his food and a cuddle, the only way he would stop crying. I had about 6 hours sleep, waking every hour or so when Teddy moved or one of the parrots talked in their sleep, then when the lizards light came on at 6. All in all better than I expected. Teddy has been back to see the surgeon and she is very happy with him. She was amazed that he needed no intervention re his diabetes, while under anaesthetic. She was sure he would need either glucose or insulin to keep him stable but he stayed level throughout. She was also quite surprised at how strong he is. He refused to let her have a good look in his eye even with 3 of us holding him. We now know that he can see movement at least. He saw me enter the room and followed me with his eyes, turning his head. It's odd to see him looking around after him only staring into space for so long. I looked him in the face and he stood looking back at me. It was lovely. The vet said his sight will improve over the next week or 2, it will be very hazy right now as there is still swelling and trauma to the eye but if he is seeing movement it can only be a good thing. Now I just have to keep on top of his medication and care routine so it stays that way until it's healed, around 6 week or more.
