Hi
I have a small budgie which is almost 4 months old. Big probably it is a male budgie.
He doesn't jump on my hand when I hold but sometimes he comes to my hand if I hold it straight or when he flies, he can land on my arm or on my shoulder. He also eats food easily always. However, He has a tough character in my opinion.
My problem is, he bites everything; the cage, the wood, toys, everything and he bites me always as well. While he is walking on me, he bites the t-shirt, etc. It doesn't hurt at all but it seems it is what he likes or maybe he does that because he is a baby?
I took him when he was 2 months old, Mostly I am with him, but I go to work 4 days for 8 hours together with my wife so bird is with me 3 days and also in the mornings before I go to work and in the evenings when I come back home. Music and tv is always open when I am away.
What are your thoughts, tips and tricks?
Thanks

I nice picture or two would go a long way to helping us help you. From what you describe I wouldn't be surprised if your friend was a little lady rather that a boy. Either that or he is simply tasting everything which is what they do with new things. So pictures please. like a larger version of the one in your avatar.

I am unable to say with any conviction about the gender, but a pure guess would be a female. That could explain the biting, if indeed it is biting.
Is that a temporary cage just while you get a proper one?

I rather think you have beautiful girl there. It probably doesn't hurt because you are man enough to take it and she is so young. Thank you for the offer of a video, which is always welcome. There will be others along in due course and they will have their own idea about the gender.

I can see the embedded video jellybean, it was the link that was not working. From the video it does look like a female and she is just checking everything out.

The photos show as a female to me, but if her bites are not vicious, why worry?? She is just being a curious, typical budgie and checking everything out. Lovely little girl.

1 month ago people at this forum was guessing that I have a male budgie I will share some picture tomorrow with a day light. The lower part of his nose is really getting darker. I am worried if these bites will be painful after 2-3 months actually

Guessing is just that. Some of your photos back then where doubtful, as are some of these ones. The video don't really help with determining gender, unfortunately.

I don't know how but I missed your first thread completely. I have just had a look and at the last photo I would have guessed female. My reasons for that are the positioning of the eyes relative to the cere and the top of the head appears flatter then a male. This does not always work out but both those traits are apparent in your latest photos. Don't be worried about the bites getting stronger, they are not that strong and by the time of maturity she may not bite so much or not at all. If you bond now, which you should have done, then there should be little or no biting. You might get a tap from the beak saying back off. But that goes for male and female, they both can bite pretty hard.
