I'm not certain, but I still think female. A lovely young budgie whatever the outcome,

Judging by those photos, I would definitely call it female.

Well, I am convinced that my budgie is female. That explains a lot why she bites everywhere and the cere is kinda whitish blue so that refers a female budgie. I was hoping that it would be a male since I really want to tame and to make the budgie talk a lot of words and it seems I need to spend more effort ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

A lot of people don't appreciate the hens, unfortunately. My experience, and that of others who have had the benefit of hens in their flock, is that hens have more personality than the boys. No, they might not be as inclined to talk, but then you cannot make a cock bird talk either - they either will or they won't, their choice. Yes, they, the hens, can be much more complicated characters, and there-in lies the fun! Consider this your next challenge, should you choose to accept ........ to appreciate this little bird with, and for, all the quirks and complications that she might throw up. It's up to you to make the most of it.

I'd love a little Hen, unfortunately I'm not allowed ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) In fact I'd have a house full of budgies, they are the most enjoyable little creatures. Treasure your little one.

Thanks for the nice tips and tricks. I already gave my budgie a lot during this one and half month and I will not give it up. It will be a challenge but I am ready to fight for it. And who knows maybe it is a male still ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Could you tell me if I would know the gender 100% within 2 months when my budgie is 6 months old?

One thing to remember is a female is a female whatever the species. Only another female can understand a female. They are the most complicated gender of all species. Any man that says he understands a female is either fooling himself or has never met one. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) The only time you are going to know for definite about the gender is if the cere goes blue or brown. It may never go either of these colours. If the budgie quacks like a duck it is female. Then you can be fairly sure. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I have 2 of each and I have never heard the males quack. It is quite distinct and usually the females will do it when I offer the finger to step on.

Only my hens have quacked like a duck or chickered like a dolphin. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) "If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck ...." it might just be a budgie hen!!!! ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

I would like to ask one thing. Never did that so I am curious. If I am watching a documentary film which shows budgies or videos like that, how do video or sound effect the bird?

Usually they would be curious, and call back, if the video has sounds of budgies calling to each other. Mine will initially go quiet, and then start answering back, quite loudly. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
