I see Would love to see a mum trying to feed the oversized chick. Mums stand on higher level to feed the chicks. Some hang upside down from cage side wires while the chick is on the floor. It's always hilarious. I will try to take a picture next time.

How lovely. No matter what, maternal instinct knows no bounds. Poor Mum though, and I have to ask the obvious question BB, why is the cock show and hen pet types. Never the other way round? Is it just a size thing, getting jiggy?

Hence they are active and playful like pet budgies but still calm and friendly like show budgies. I haven't tried it the other way round and I have never sold a chick to date.

I think what Hezz means is, is it easier for them to mate if the Cock is bigger than the hen rather than have a large female and small male?

I'll sort out some pictures when I am on my home laptop... That's great How much is the size difference? Cagney is a normal pet size, although when they first got together he was tinier than he is now. Atilla is part-exhibition/part-pet so is bigger all over. Cagney is very agile & sometimes takes a running jump & lands on Atilla's back, ready for rumpy-pumpy. She's not always amused, but I always think, when he does that, how lucky she is that he is small.

They too like big strong males who can protect them. That's why male fight over females in the wild and the hen happily accepts the winner

Well guys, I came across the word "jiggy" for the first time. I looked in the dictionary and this is what came up. And I based my post on whatever I could understand from it. I hope I didn't write something not good
