We took Bertie to the vet on Monday and he's been given a five day course of baytril for a possible respiratory infection.
The vet at first thought it may be mites because Bertie looked like he had feather loss near his eye, but I informed him that it was because Bertie was scratching the area after the nasal discharge. The feathers were merely a little sticky.
Bertie is pretty laid back and doesn't mind the meds too much.
He is about nine months old now though andnd still has a purple cere which I find confusing.
Sorry I haven't been around much, everything is still up in the air here. Mentally it's a big adjustment for me as I have serious anxiety issues and don't adapt well to change, so I spent the first few days in tears.
It's Eve's first birthday on 9th and we're having a party at my mum's on Sunday, which we have done absolutely nothing to prepare for.

Glad you got meds for Bertie, I hope that sorts him
It’s awful that you’ve had to move out, it would be hard and stressful for anyone, plus you have Eve and the buds too, so extra hard
Gosh that’s gone quickly! Don’t worry about too much prep for it, I’m sure it will be lovely.

I hope the meds help Bertie, he sounds a great little guy.
Sorry you've been so stressed out Marianne, I really hope its not long before you're allowed to move back to your own flat.
Hope the family rally round and give you a hand to get a little party organised for Eve.
Take care of yourself xxx

I'm glad Bertie got on well at the vets. It's such a shame that you've had to move out but hopefully it won't be for long and your flat will be so much better when you get back there. I'm sure you'll all have a lovely time at Eve's party on Sunday.

An early Happy Birthday to Eve! I'm sure she will enjoy being the center of attention at the party. As a one-year old the party just goes according to her - when she's being active and what she feels like doing. Have fun with it!
So sorry the adjustment has been tough. I hope your place gets fixed up quickly so you can move back. I also hope Bertie gets well very quickly with his meds. Sending good wishes to all.

For a one-year old, the party just has to be fun, it doesn't need to be perfect! Eve will make it what she will. Glad Bertie has been seen to and isn't too fazed about the meds. It's nice to have at least one calm body to deal with ... so sorry that this has all turned your anxiety up a notch, M. I can easily see how this would happen. Take some time for you and look after yourself. xx

How long will it be before you can move back home? Hang in there Marianne, you are doing great.

An early happy birthday to Eve from me and the gang too! It will all sort itself out and as Hezz has said little Eve will love whatever you do for her am sure! How's little Bertie doing now? Fingers crossed this moving/flat thing sorts itself out sooner rather than later for you too x

Thanks everyone. Bertie is doing very well, flying about and playing. You wouldn't even know he'd been ill. They said that the works on our flat could take a month. But they have not started yet, as they need the floors to dry out. I truly hate being in the new place. It's pretty isolating as I cannot keep walking up and down stairs. Plus I can't carry Eve up and down stairs on my own and get her into the pram downstairs. So frustrating. I know I should be grateful that they gave us a temporary place as we could have ended up in a hotel and they wouldn't have taken my budgies. Anyway, it's the day of Eve's party today, but she's one year old tomorrow. I'll post a photo later of her in her party outfit Thank you all for being so supportive, I really appreciate it.

I hope Eve enjoys her day. I cannot believe she’s one already! As Shirls says hang on in there Marianne Marlow. I know it’s difficult at the moment but if March flies like January and February it won’t be long until everything is back to normal.
