I heard on the news this morning that Merck has a pill to help people who catch Covid-19 and its been approved for use in the UK. Pfizer also has a pill but its not been approved yet. I think that's a great step towards everything getting back to normal. If someone catches the virus and can be treated at home, then it'll be just like the flu and only the worse cases will be hospitalized.

yes, it is amazing and will be out soon. they said it has to be taken within 5 days of getting symptoms, but does not replace the jabs.. as I think some think it is instead of it.

I think it’s amazing news too. I think you have to have one qualifying condition to receive it, such as diabetes, a heart complaint, etc. If it makes the difference between being able to stay at home to recover instead of needing hospitalisation, it’ll take a huge weight off hospital bed demands, which hopefully means the hospitals will be able to cope with more normal winter admission numbers and continue to work through all the necessary but delayed surgeries and treatments that so many have had to go through.
We know of so many young people who have had it. My daughter’s boyfriend’s friend has now contracted it again for a second time. He’s a neuroscientist in Bristol and has been double-jabbed. My adult son and daughter still living at home have been called for the flu jab because of having a clinically vulnerable person in the household, so that’s another bonus this winter. All these little things help.

I was thinking the pill would be a big help and take some worry off for people like Marianne who can't get the vaccine. Hopefully they could take the pill if they get sick.

That is kind of you to think of me. When I had Covid I was lucky in that it didn't go to my chest. Oddly enough at the moment I have a rather severe chest infection but I do not have Covid (have had 2 tests in the last 3 weeks as have been to hospital a few times) I was thinking the pill would be a big help and take some worry off for people like Marianne who can't get the vaccine. Hopefully they could take the pill if they get sick.

I've been on antibiotics just over a week now, hopefully they will do the trick. I have also put in an e-consult to my GP to see if they can help. I hope you get better soon, that’s not good.

Sorry that you’ve been unwell Marianne Marlow. Hope the antibiotics kick the infection into touch quickly. Keep warm and as rested as possible.

I'll be fine I'm sure. Eve came home from hospital on wednesday after spending a week in with pneumonia. We're glad to have her home. Paul stayed in with her. Sorry that you’ve been unwell Marianne Marlow. Hope the antibiotics kick the infection into touch quickly. Keep warm and as rested as possible.

Parents often feel helpless when their little children get sick especially sick enough to be in the hospital. The children don't understand what's going on and then you turn the care over to others and just hope. Great that she's home now and I hope you all (and the rest of us) get through the winter without any further illness.
