It looks legit. I've heard in the news here that University of Oxford has a vaccine they are testing. The results of the first trial were very positive and now they are expanding it. Maybe you could ask your doctor what he/she knows about it. Before thy give you any kind of treatment, they should explain what it is all about and if there are any possible harmful effects. It might be just a questionnaire you'd fill out periodically along with a covid-19 test.

I had similar, but one swab from a London hospital.

I have just phoned up and got more details, and have enrolled. Disappointingly I will not be part of the antibody blood test, just swabs and when they take the first one they will come into my home in full PPE and I will complete a questionnaire. Follow up swabs will be taken either on the doorstep. In both cases I will be handed the kit and take the swabs myself. I feel quite excited to be part of this Edit: £50 for the first swab and £25 for each one after, so that's not bad either.

oh gosh, not bad at all..
I was never keen doing my own, in case I didn't do it right and then it gave a false reading.. This was not for the antibody - just to see if I had had it.
think it was Guy's hospital that did it

Great, so back to no more than 6 people at a gathering from 14th. Why 14th? Surely it needs to be tomorrow if they’re doing it. By Monday we could have even more cases. But you can go to work, use public transport to get there
Maybe I’m thick but I cant see how it helps. There were raves going on, so people are going to still meet. We don’t have enough police to police it. How do they know if 6 or 7 people in a house meeting up.
If people had followed rules, those coming back in to the UK were definitely quarantining when told to, etc etc.
Sorry, just clearly wound up.

Me too ffiscool. I think a certain percentage of the population are just too selfish to follow the rules. They may feel invincible but it's the people that they are spreading it too who are in danger. I feel really sorry for the businesses who are suffering from this, but I do think the lockdown was lifted too soon, and people started dashing off on holiday, partying and generally forgetting Covid ever existed. I know feeling confined is awful, but we are an island, and if any place in the world should be able to confine a virus it should be somewhere like the UK.

they are allowing restaurants etc to carry on, weddings, funerals,
it is either cases are too high, lock down, or it is not
the fact that more than 6 cannot meet in a house/wherever is stupid
that is not where the rises are coming from.. if you are able to go and eat out and you have covid, it will spread.. travel spreads it
so so stupid, they are doing what they want when they want, but not consistent. it will cause more rebellions

Makes you angry doesn't it ffiscool, why is it that so many of us can see the problems and the **%$£** government can't see beyond their noses! If lockdown had lasted just a couple more weeks we wouldn't be in this position now.

the other inevitable thing is that parties will now happen all this weekend, because the weather will be nice and also because of restrictions starting on 14th
again, they are allowing more spread - they should be immediate or at very least start from Friday

Yeah, I don't understand why they keep feeling the need to make changes start on a Monday... Just slows everything down.
Caerphilly's locked down and my friend who lives in Bedwas is in the lockdown area. Her daughter was meant to be going to uni in 2 weeks. The uni are happy for her daughter to still go and the local assembly were happy for my friend to take her and to stay in self-catered accommodation (as her daughter has anxiety so my friend wanted to stay there for a week until her daughter's boyfriend moved up), but no accommodation wants them now, and if her daughter doesn't go then her uni accommodation won't be held for her.

it is all such a mess.. I genuinely do not understand how they are making these decisions, date wise.
areas that have high rising cases, I do think should be in lockdown. I know that is damaging to so many and it is really awful about situations like your friend's daughter. but I just do not see how we can get this back under control with things not happening immediately.. Boris - or rather Matt have done lots with immediate effect, this should be one of them.

Unfortunately we don't have a national plan/policy - Trump has left it up to the states to decide what to do including wearing masks, social distancing and lock down. He actually repeated recently that the coronavirus will just die down like the flu does and we should all get back to work - deaths are just collateral damage. I try not to listen to him because it just drives me crazy. I'm doing what I need to be safe - my babies need me.

It’s ridiculous isn’t it? And with tragic results. And why do they make these announcements always late at night (well, I know why, it’s so they can’t immediately be taken to task)? How can it not be ok for 6 people to gather yet if they’re dozens of school kids or students or multiple groups of 6 in an indoor pub, then suddenly it’s ok? Or if you’re in a team of, say 10, at work, that’s fine but come the lunch break, it’s banned for being too risky? I don’t think the virus distinguishes does it, nor is it waiting until Monday before infecting more people. And Matt Hancock blamed the ‘public’ today for the lack of testing, it’s outrageous! It’s always someone else’s fault in this current climate..... Hugs (from a distance) to anyone who needs them 💙

I agree, this no more than 6 meeting together should've started much sooner & the whole lockdown easing should've been much more slow. An effective vaccine is the only way, I think, to get Covid under control & enable us all to resume some sort of normality without fear of infection. I do think it's wrong to blame a whole generation of youngsters for the current spike, though, as the press are doing. The whole coronavirus thing has been tragic for so many & devastating in pretty much every area of life. Personally, I'll be very glad to see it gone or at least overcome. Thanks for the cyber-hug starrymist , I definitely needed one. Sending the same & cheek tickles to all our feathered companions.

There is definitely a pattern to the outbreaks. Two weeks ago on Mon, Sept 7 we had a national holiday - Labor Day. Everyone was going to the beach, parks, having outdoor grilling parties, etc. Today it was announced on the news that there is a spike in new outbreaks across the US. People just can't resist having celebrations when they normally do. Before having this spike, we were having a decent decline. I lost track on the news - did UK have a restriction in place on Sept 14? The news today did say that the UK is looking at another shutdown.
