Is it just me that thinks it’s madness for ALL restrictions to be lifted on 19th? I will carry on wearing a mask, but I think they should still have to be worn on public transport and in theatres and the like. I also don’t understand why 21st June was delayed, yet 60000 were at Wembley last night.

I agree. I have already noticed buses going past with passengers clearly having taken off their masks as soon as they get upstairs. I’m very wary, even being double-vaccinated. I don’t go anywhere unless absolutely necessary but I will continue to wear my mask when I do. The people packed into Wembley and before the game in Wembley Way and Leicester Square was madness in my opinion. I don’t doubt cases are going to sky-rocket over the next few weeks. People seem to forget that the vaccine doesn’t prevent us from getting Covid. We can still get it and feel ill, we can still get it and pass it on to someone vulnerable and we can still get it and be hospitalised. Plus we have no idea how long the antibodies last for. It’s like everyone throws all caution to the wind and acts like the pandemic is over, even though we’re in the middle of a huge wave.

Agree. I had a notification on Saturday that I’d been near someone who tested positive when I was at Warner’s. By then though, it was 6 days later. I’d been out and about. I did a test, luckily negative. I watched a programme on long covid tonight, that’s almost scarier than if you had covid, as it’s unpredictable
Last night was crazy. Of course we’re going to badly spike. Then what more restrictions.

Here in California the restrictions have all been lifted for about a month. Mask wearing is required for those who have not been vaccinated which includes children 12 years old and under. Masks are required in public transportation and where posted - I think that's government buildings. We have close to 80% of those who can be vaccinated have gotten at least one shot. Cases have gone up but the majority are not severe. These cases are the Delta variant and 100% are those who have not been vaccinated. So they are saying the vaccine is effective against the new variants. I'm still being cautious. Good luck to everyone there. I hope it goes as well for you as it has for us.

We have a long way to get everyone vaccinated. With vaccination, the cases are not severe. I see people not wearing mask on the street sometimes & it's scary. With my mom in the house, we are being more careful. She has 2nd shot scheduled after 10 days.. Me & my hubby were advised to wait 3 months after covid to get vaccinated, which will be end of July. But we are going to register for first shot before that. Would have to wait for 82 days for 2nd shot and by then, we would have the 3rd wave..
Reading the news about Black, white and yellow fungus cases is scary.. 😑

It is interesting how each country is addressing getting their people vaccinated. I heard that less than 10% of the world has been vaccinated. Those countries with vaccine available are now looking into getting those vaccines to other countries such as the countries in Africa.

I know the UK pledged to give 25 million doses to poorer countries by the end of this year and I think 100 million within a year. Less than 1% of Africa has been vaccinated and it must be a logistical nightmare when it comes to remote areas. I think overall with vaccination roll-outs varying so much over the world, it really is scary that less than 10% of the world’s population has received it, especially considering how many variants and mutations that have come along in the space of a year. It seems madness that as restrictions are set to be all relaxed here next Monday, France is bringing in more severe restrictions and we’re only separated by a small channel of water. I remain very cautious and am completely prepared for further lockdowns this winter. I just hope the government has learned from its mistakes and lockdowns will be implemented much quicker along with other measures especially closing borders with immediate effect - not waiting weeks! Yes, we do have to find a way of living with Covid but I don’t find it comparable to the flu right now. The flu is a serious respiratory disease and can lead to pneumonia but most healthy adults can recover; the same can’t be said of Covid. I’m not a fan of herd immunity at all. I stand with many medics and scientists stating next week’s so-called ‘Freedom Day’ is irresponsible.

Here in denmark we have 100k vaccines available but no one signs up cuz people are on vacation they say.

In Wales the restrictions are being relaxed more gradually than in England, and face coverings will continue to be mandatory which I'm glad about. A few things get eased on Saturday - people from 6 different households can meet indoors, and larger organised gatherings are allowed too and then on 7th August more easing is planned but only if the circumstances are ok. This will include face coverings no longer being required in hospitality venues and schools, but they will still be compulsory everywhere else indoors.
I am glad that I live in Wales and that the government is being more cautious than in England. Every one over 18 has been invited for a vaccine but there are still about 25% of 18 to 30 who haven't taken up the vaccine.

You’re definitely better off there. At least we don’t have Matt Hancock who would not be making masks compulsory on public transport. It worries me that yet again Boris is making wrong decisions. How can it possibly be ok to ease everything with our cases rising badly

Just when I thought we had it under control... cases are rising again. We just had big celebrations on July 4 (no masks, no social distancing), so about 2 weeks later another surge is happening. In late June all the restrictions were lifted except for those people who were not vaccinated, they had to still wear masks and socially distanced. From the news reports, all the new cases are people who have not been vaccinated and are the new Delta variant. Starting this Saturday, everyone must wear a mask indoors in public places. Now that we've had a taste of no-mask wearing, I'm wondering how many will go back to wearing a mask? We still don't have a vaccine for children under 12 years old.

We will have high numbers too again. People are rushing to hill stations and tourist attractions, without social distancing or even mask. I just wonder how people can forget the situation we were in, just a month back - with oxygen shortage, people lying outside the hospitals in waiting lines dying.. How can people be so stupid?! Vaccines don't guarantee that you won't get covid.. I wouldn't stop wearing mask even if vaccinated.
We have a trend of house help over here for dish washing & home cleaning. We send her on paid leave when the cases roar. Dish washers & vacuum cleaners have been trending due to covid over here now... we are going to get a dishwasher instead now & use vacuum cleaner for home cleaning. With my mom at our home now, I'm super skeptical & we want to avoid anyone getting into our home..
