Thank you all for lovely and encouraging feedback. I'm trying to get myself together and see if I can do something with them. Once I have made something it moves into a category in my mind labelled "ordinary", "nothing special" etc. So it is energising to get fresh reactions.
Meanwhile the boats in the harbour near me have been craned out for the winter and there will be more raw material waiting...

It's awesome..ask people like me, who can't.. π As such, on a personal level, it's good that you think so.. everytime you achieve something, you call it ordinary, so you have your bar raised high..and your next one would be even better than the previous one! And all of them would be fabulous, from my eye!

jellybean You're talking about this one... I'm not sure what you are referring as cake.. But, that would be such a cool idea π The one with flowers is floral rangoli. Sand art is called rangoli here & people use different materials for making it - sand, flower, colored grains, wooden saw remains & anything creative. The red one at the end is a height raiser covered with red cloth, where all the Indian God & Goddess idols reside.. π Thank you everyone for the appreciation on the sand art and decorations. The flat cleaner thought its a carpet and tried picking it up today morning and later apologized to me.. π
It was a small damage, easily repairable. But, I laughed out loud. My neighbors are telling me to keep it for a month (my mom never wanted to remove it as well at her home), but by then, it would be such a mess and so dirty. I'll probably remove it by next week. And I got the cervical pain and associated migraine today.. lol. Everyone in the family is going to scold me today π₯Ίπ Β

Sorry mona I was looking at it on my phone, it looked like a giant decorated cake, but on closer inspection I see it isn't. Hope you feel better soon too.

I really love the sand art Mona and all your festivities look fabulous.
I always think Diwali looks to be a wonderful festival, far more spiritual than our Christmas which has very little meaning now apart from consumer frenzy spending on gifts, food and booze. It's nice seeing family but you can do that any day of the year (just not this year!).

Thanks, mona for sharing a bit of your culture with us! Hopefully you have some good herbs/oils to help with the migraines. Feel better soon.
