Anyone have knowledge of, or friend/family member who might....
so downstairs, her bathroom and kitchen are directly under mine, so down pipes go out to same drains.
she’s having a new bathroom fitted. Started yesterday morning. I had a shower before they started yesterday. Tonight had one and I can see water seeping onto carpet (it was already here) by sink and bit of bath are which is next to the sink. So it’s either been very slowly leaking or it is today. Def was not showing yesterday.
anyway, downstairs is changing it all around, bath gone, big walk in shower going in. Sink being moved. I can’t see it’s a coincidence but could her pipes have been knocked, moved and if so, would I even get water showing? Unless they’ve temporarily blocked her down pipe off til new fitmemts in.
I know water can’t go up, which is why I’m wondering if capped off
I’ll ask her man fitting the bathroom, tomorrow morning but wondered if it’s even possible so I’m armed ready, if need be

And to add to it, half my back tooth came away today. I think it was mostly filling, but think dentists aren’t drilling cos of COVID. I have an apt Thursday. I imagine a temp filling

Sorry I can't offer any advice about the water but it does sound suspicious that the leaks have appeared just as the work is being done downstairs. I hope you get to the bottom of it tomorrow before any more damage is done.
I feel for you about your tooth too. I tend to go into a tailspin with all things tooth related, especially at this time when problems can't be properly/easily fixed. It sounds like you'll be getting it checked out fairly quickly though. In the past I've had to wait 2 weeks in order to see my dentist for a lost filling. Hopefully the treatment helps on Thursday, even if it is just temporary.
Grrr, it never rains, it pours!

Thank you. Yes it’s v odd. I’ve emailed a plumber, found his details on a recommended site. He looks to start at 8am and downstairs won’t start til 9.
I’ve asked if it’s even possible that it’s connected.
When I bought the flat, there’s been a big leak behind the toilet/sink. I got it fixed, the angle of the down pipe was wrong. That’s been ok since, so it could be that again I suppose. I had the pipe angled which meant the bit under the toilet had to be raised. Then it was boxed in but easily unscrewed as wood, not piped or hard to get to. I don’t however think it would go by the bath area.
If it’s not possibly related, then I’ll as the plumber I’ve emailed to come and look.
I hate water issues
It could be a simple seal, even I hope
Teeth, yes agree. I’m fine re temp filling as long as it holds
I’m not sure why they can’t drill I know it sprays out what’s in my mouth but if they’re in PPE, it should be ok?
I’ll find out. Good for losing weight. I can’t eat much that I have here, I need softer food even though I’m eating on other side
I’m hoping the things come in 3s, don’t

No, don't say that, you might tempt fate! Two bad things are definitely enough to cope with at the moment Hope you have enough soft food to keep you going until Thursday

It does seem that bad things come in groups! It sounds to me like the guys working on the pipes may have jostled loose a joint in your section of the pipes that has caused the leak. Rightfully, they should fix that since they caused it.
I broke a back tooth that had a crown on it just as the shut down started. Dentists were all closed by then. Since it wasn't causing me any pain, my dentist said to wait but brush around it very well. I just saw the dentist last week and she said I would need a new crown. I'll go in at the end of the month. She said that the American Dental Association has guidelines that recommend keeping the production of "aerosols" as low as possible so they are only drilling when absolutely necessary. Wen she cleaned my teeth, she used the cleaning abrasive with a cotton swab. She also had a disposable lab coat on as well as a mask and face shield. She did all the work herself on me and the assistant was there wiping down and cleaning everything.
Good luck with everything!

Thank you.
I will have to Have a temp filling as it’s liable to break further and rough edges as the side of it is a big gap.

Sorry about your tooth Fran, it is a worry for things like that at this time!
As for the leak, IMHO I would be asking the guys doing your neighbour's bathroom to sort it out!
If they caused it, they sort it!
Hope you find out quickly at what's happening and get it remedied asap x

The water was obviously draining away before the work started, so their responsibility.
Sorry about all the teeth problems. I hope no-one is in pain

phew... so I got hold of the plumber downstairs.. he came up and said no way water could go up, which I knew but thought it could have been something knocked.. he said he is not working in the same corner as my issue. anyway, he took bath panel off and found it.. the outlet pipe from bath and shower had come away from the connecting pipe... thank goodness i had a quick shower and don't have baths... hate to think. but it was causing damp patch on her ceiling.
he sorted it, he thinks.. we ran the bath and the shower and it held.. it is now glued together. I had no cash as such on me, but had a tenner which I gave him.
he said he can also change the taps on my bath, without damaging tiles. when these flats were built, so badly done and i have a massive bath, too long for me and i am 5ft 6... so the taps are rammed against the wall. but an odd shape so i can't put on a shower hose to just wash my hair, nothing fits. so if i want to just quickly do my hair, have to go in the shower.
will give him my number and get him to come and do that, when i choose taps that is
so all in all... everything crossed, RESULT
i wonder if the pipe was never great and all the drilling and knocking down of things, dislodged it.. but phew

Got to have a crown. Mega bucks 😒. Having temp crown tmrw. Takes over an hour. Didn’t think dentists could do drilling at the mo but mine is.
Has to be done as it was tooth that came away so the test could go.
Agh.

Have you had a crown before ffiscool? As they take an impression first so the crown then has to be made. So not sure about the drilling today, they might just smooth it over. Usually takes 2-3weeks for one to be made (where we go) Hope they sort you out though! Best of luck x
