I have had my female hen for about 6months now and want to introduce a male into the cage with her, I don’t necessarily want them to breed but want to know if having the pair , if they will still interact with me and be friendly towards me aswell. Just don’t want to get a male and them not want to see me and only be interested in eachother. Any tips on how to pair?
Thanks🙂

I’ve not done this but no doubt others will advise that you will need to introduce them (after quarantine) by having them meet in neutral space or by putting your hen into the cage where male has been living rather than other way round. It seems to invite trouble to have a hen’s space invaded by introducing a new bird onto her patch. In my experience budgies are more naturally interested In each other but retain trust in me even so. But none of mine have been very tame singletons with me for as long as your hen. How tame is she? See also budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/19846/gender-say-budgie

Agree with birdguhl , never put a male into a hens territory/cage, after a month of quarantine in different rooms bring the cages into the same room for a couple of days and then allow the hen out to check out the male and visit him, assuming this goes well open both cages and sit back and watch. It could take a few days or longer for them to move in together or it could be a done deal
