It was delicious! Yummy Despite using them the other day, Indie and Pippin can't seem to grasp the concept of the new bowls, though Indie managed to drink from one I was holding. So Pippin has been screaming to tell me that there's no food. Or to tell me that OH isn't here, because since he got back from shopping Pippin has quieted. Either that or Pippin ate some veg and is now content for a minute.

I should probably also note, Pippin doesn't understand how to use the large door on the front of the cage.

Glad the resin tastes like plastic. Now, if every birdie would just learn to use the new bowls! Your Pippin sounds a bit like my Tweetie Pie. It takes him a while to figure things out. When I first clipped some millet to the outside of the cage on the side beside a perch, I put Buddy on my finger and carried him over to get it. Buddy (Tweetie Pie is still finger shy) got the idea after only 2 tries - come out the cage, go around the corner, land on the perch, eat treat. Even after watching Buddy, Tweetie Pie still tried to go through the bars. He finally got but still will sometimes try to go through the bars!

Yes! It is very funny to watch, but he just tries to go straight towards the others. Bless them, they are such sweet daft creatures. He did eventually manage to get inside, figure out the bowl, eat a bit, and eventually get out again. Not sure the new bowls are a hit with anyone, even the ones who've figured them out. They're also prone to the lids being popped off or me dropping them when trying to hang them up on the bars. I'll give them a few more tries. I've found some absolutely tiny bowls if needs be.

Came home to 2 out of 4 food bowls used as latrines, though it appears to have occurred after the food was consumed at least. I have annual leave for a week now so at least I can work on trying them with the lidded bowls a bit more consistently. The live basil has survived the week. Pretty happy with that. Well worth the slightly increased cost compared to the cut basil that sometimes only lasts a day before needing to be tossed away. If I put 1tsp of pellets in the bowls in the morning it is all gone when I get home. If I put in 1.5tsp there is still a fair amount left. I guess I should try 1.25tsp. They go absolutely bananas when we let them out after work. It's really nice to see them so active and happy. I was really tired last night and the room got dark whilst we were downstairs, so when I came to cover them up I accidentally put the cage cover on inside out. Tonight I put the front flap of the cover down and the outside has a spray of white flecks on it, so I know those are definitely from last night. Someone occasionally does these milky vomits overnight and I don't know who or why. Only ever at night, and so sporadically that I can't connect any common factors, especially when if I don't hear them I don't necessarily know how long ago it happened when I finally find the evidence. I think last time it was Munchy, but I only guessed that because it was next to where only he had been sleeping.

Who’d ever believe (non bird owners) the these little things take up so much time, consideration and occasional worries
Good luck on the bowls and hopefully the milky vomits

I promise that at some point I will stop rambling about bowls. 😂
Going to work on setting up the downstairs room this week.
If the vomiting keeps happening I'll probably book an appointment with the avian vet for the next time I'm on annual leave and get a check up. None of them are tired or fluffed up or anything, so I'll keep a close eye on them.
Edit: I think I'll email the vet and see what he says. If he says bring them in this week then I'm free to do so and there's money in the emergency fund for them, so they can have some tests and such.

I've been sorting a lot of furniture today and also popped out to lug home two 3x4m rolls of vinyl to cover the carpet in our current bedroom, so I haven't seen too much of my little ones today. Apart from needing to catch Yuki for something at one point, which made me feel bad because I had to but he shed so many feathers in defence. I need to give waaaay more bribes to all of them. OH sent me this short video he took of Pippin, though: Pippin makes me smile and giggle so much. He is often the definition of 'bird brain' at times, and his heavier feathers give him some hilarious and cute expressions. He's super skittish and may never be fully comfortable with us, though he knows to yell to us when he's hungry because we're the food bringers and will sometimes land near us, but my heart swells with love for him to see him so happy. I'm so glad that he stayed with us. He really made it feel like we have a cohesive flock and I'm glad that he'll be able to live out his life loved and with friends. Meanwhile, in plant related news, I went to strip the leaves from the wilting basil, only to find that it's perked right back up after being left alone for the morning. Very impressed. My housemate did an online shop today so I have requested a couple of other live herbs so that I can rotate the plants and hopefully they'll last longer as a result.

Are they milky vomits or runny poops that got flicked on the cover by someone trying to preen their bum?
It's very white for vomit.

Are they milky vomits or runny poops that got flicked on the cover by someone trying to preen their bum? It's very white for vomit. That's a good question. It's the only colour I've ever seen. It's almost like the residue that Munchy would leave by regurgitating on something a lot, just without the grittiness. I sent the photo to the vet with my email so will see what he says. If I didn't cover them then I probably wouldn't see any evidence and wouldn't be at all concerned because they show no odd behaviour during the day.

Not the brightest spark, just like my Barney 😂 I often tell them "It's a good thing you're cute!", though that's usually when they've gotten a poo somewhere weird. Today Pippin was screaming at me for food, even though food was in the cage, in the bowls he was using yesterday yet seemed to have forgotten how to use today. As my nan would say "I've slept since then."
