Contrary to both expectations and my pledge, Chocobo got under the fridge again just now. I cannot say I'm surprised - what amazed me was, with the fortifications in place, she got out again. I had rather smugly decided I was going to leave her trapped under there and let her out later in the day - not through cruelty or revenge but so that she associates the fridge with an unpleasant place to be imprisoned. I'm impressed but the Mark 2 fortifications are more extensive. It's the most I can do without compromising the integrity of the cooling system. I know I said I was gifting her the fridge if she breached the defences but I lied. Here she is given the improvements the once-over: And here we have a video of her in-depth examination: 1drv.ms/v/s!AnyoyWilEZ_Xh65HjlU8J7f3Nc1Umg?e=5VCiXqI love how at the end, she tells me she is "Just dusting, pay no mind to me".

Silly Chocobo..
I'd be more worried if she got to the back of the fridge..

Silly Chocobo.. I'd be more worried if she got to the back of the fridge.. That was how she got under the fridge, after the Mark 1 modifications. Hopefully Mk2 closes off all attractive avenues.

Great goat, she's still trying.
Is there a breed of cat that lives exclusively under the fridge? Does anyone know?

It continually amazes me how determined that little girl is! Since she's so determined, maybe you should create the nesting spot again and everytime she goes to a spot you don't want her to be in, remove her from there and take her to the nesting spot. Maybe she'll get trained to go to the safe spot.

Maybe she'll get trained to go to the safe spot. She is astonishingly determined and epitomises the phrase, "Life finds a way." Your suggestion is a fair one, TPM and it has occurred to me to keep her nesting pot in permanent operation. What stops me doing so is - it won't stop her looking for other nest sites plus I'm not sure whether a permanent suitable-site would lead to permanent egg-laying. Also, if I tried to move her physically, she'd beat me up. I'll keep doing what I'm doing, which is play catch-up with her nest-finding activities and re-introduce the nest pot when I see her behaviour and weight-gain indicating another egg cycle is imminent.

I know I said I was gifting her the fridge if she breached the defences but I lied. But have you taken up alcohol? She would certainly drive most people over the edge...

A quote from Jurassic park. How fitting. Surely this cute little girl wouldn't beat you up. It continually amazes me how determined that little girl is! Chocobo used to bash my hands when I changed the floor and water in her cage but she tolerates me now. I think sometimes she loves me That was indeed a quote from JP and a very truthful statement it is, too.

I certainly think she more than tolerates you now. She likes to talk to you. Does she ever sit and talk to the other budgies in her funny way or just you? Yes, certainly a true statement by Jeff Goldblum's character Chocobo used to bash my hands when I changed the floor and water in her cage but she tolerates me now. I think sometimes she loves me That was indeed a quote from JP and a very truthful statement it is, too.

She does her "Why won't you love me?" call to Eeyore, with whom she is unquestionably enamoured. She's even made such calls to me on rare occasions and also to Herman & Mr Hibs. In regular conversation though, she doesn't speak to the others quite the way she speaks to me - we have a special language. It's quite similar to the chat she makes when she's found a food supply she really likes. I'm flattered!
Mr Hibs and I also have a special dialogue. He makes sounds to me (which I taught him) that he does not use with anyone else.

Chocobo has been focused on me for the past couple of days. The attention is wonderful but it also means I have to be cautious - twice now I have tapped her with my foot when I haven't noticed her on the floor right next to me or when she's hidden herself under the sofa cover. Both incidents alarmed me rather than her, she took it in her stride but the warning is well taken. *Look before you walk* Part of the issue of course is I am having to duck whenever I go from kitchen to lounge or vice versa or else suffer a face-full of itinerant budgies. Here she is helping me with the laundry. Thanks to all the help I'm getting I am now very behind in today's chores. The kitchen floor needs sweeping like you would not believe.

Sorry, I can’t help but stifle a giggle behind my hand, she must be twice the work of 12 budgies 😂

She's a real handful but she makes me laugh as well as making me yell, "Chocobo!" every few minutes.
Twelve budgies makes for an appreciable amount of work, it must be said.
