Does she know her name? When you yell it out, does she stop and look at you?

Does she know her name? When you yell it out, does she stop and look at you? I believe she thinks her name is "Beautiful" because that is the only word she reacts to. She does listen to me though, sometimes intently.

I have to say, she really makes me laugh, Iβd never get anything done watching her shenanigans. The looks she gives are like βWHATβ π
The poor girl needs a hubby @lozhenge π€π

A male chocobo would be a whole new world of work.
Maybe if I had a few more rooms...

I place a chunk of pear on the kitchen table to satisfy Chocobo's desire to steal food but that no longer works. I mean, she still nibbles on the pear but the fact I never shoo her away tells her that the food is not in fact stolen. The real deal is in the fruit bowl: She doesn't even like clementines but "stolen is stolen" and that's what really counts.

Do kakariki's normally like a lot of fruit?
I'm sure I asked this before, but does she get a different seed mix from the budgies?

Kakarikis are big on fruit, it's a very natural and essential part of their diet. I have some fresh mango I'm going to give her tomorrow.

How lovely, I am sure she will enjoy the mango!
"daddeh, a whole mango, just for me?!"

Chocobo fled the cage last night just before bedtime, there was too much budgie activity in her corner so she decided to spend the night on the bookcase behind the picture frame. I unfortunately forgot to close the door of the downstairs loo last thing ... so this was the sight that greeted me first thing this morning. She looked very settled but when it became to time to move her along there was a problem - she had somehow threaded a dry plant stalk through her cursed leg ring and was in need of rescuing. This I did (it was a helluva lot easier than the last time I released her) and she gave me a wonderfully hard bite on the knuckle to thank me. I suppose she was teaching me a lesson not to be so stupid and leave the loo door open in future. Sorry, Chocobo, my bad.

She looks like she's trying out a phase of 'cup nesting' rather than cavity nesting...

She looks like she's trying out a phase of 'cup nesting' rather than cavity nesting... That was my first thought when I saw her but I recalled that her weight has been rock-steady recently. So I knew something else was going on!

She does look content nestled in the plant. Happily, she didn't fight against her foot ring being caught and injure herself. An example of why my vet recommends those rings be removed when the birdies come in for an examination.

An example of why my vet recommends those rings be removed when the birdies come in for an examination. The vets I have access to have always wanted to anaesthetise my birbs in order to remove a metal ring tag. As a result, I've been reluctant to progress the issue. It's deeply frustrating, especially in the case of Chocobo whom I know is vulnerable to ring tag issues.

Interesting. My vet just took what looked like tiny metal clippers and snipped Tweetie Pie's ring off while the vet tech held him.
