Just putting it out there, tonight's nurse needs an attitude transplant. Old and cranky or young and cranky? Either way, uncaring nurses are the pits. 😠

I joke that I'm an uncaring nurse, but I'm not like that. I just have the ability to turn off my empathy when I need to, or else some of what I see would be really gross or heartbreaking. ffiscool They never even checked if I had anything when I came in, so I still have my paracetamol, ibuprofen, codeine, and flucloxacillin in my bag. I don't need any of them. Tomorrow's nurse will probably get gaviscon written up for me if I ask, but at least I now have a secret stash of reflux relief if necessary!

Ira I am just catching up! So sorry to hear you have been having such a rubbish time of it. I hope you continue to improve. As for the uncaring nurse. I think they need a stint in the linen cupboard with the pigeon to think about different career options that might be more suitable!

Aww, I just found out that a little one I looked after when I was a student and newly qualified was discharged to pass away at home with his family yesterday. 😥 Poor little guy

I was today years old when I learned that I do actually have a heart about these matters? It was always going to be the way, but it is sad.
Sooo... still on IVs. The doctor this morning wants me to not have a temperature for 24 hours before they're stopped. And they want repeat bloods. Which means another needle. The junior doctor couldn't get near me with one yesterday, but I guess I'll have to fight my urge to run today. And drink plenty so my veins are slightly less rubbish.

Be strong, Ira!
Remember, hold onto something tender/delicate of the administering health worker and say to them, "We aren't going to hurt each other now, are we?"

😭 Evil vampires! They had to stab me twice. But they sent the patient access people to do a bunch of us, so at least it was the pros. And he used to be the best friend of the son of the nurse today, so she said she'd get him back for me. 🤣
Just feeling emotionally rubbish today.

Dislike that you feel rubbish today, Ira but like the idea of you getting revenge 👍

Oh no! Ira I’m so sorry you’ve ended up in hospital. The lengths you go to to spend time in there even when you’re not working!! Joking aside, it all sounds to have been a horrible and stressful couple of days. Hopefully the IV antibiotics will kick the infection into touch and your temperature will come back down and the Dr will agree to discharge you. I’m sure it’s not fun seeing it from the other side and very sad news about one of your patients. I hope he has a peaceful passing surrounded by love. Keep positive thoughts going that you’ll be home very soon and how excited the flock will be when they see you. I think you’ll be extra careful not to lift anything and allow your housemates and A to look after you. Get better soon! x

Thanks everyone. My temperature has stayed down thus far today and my wound looks much better. Though still oozes through dressings in a matter of hours.
Oh, and guess who's back? Nurse B****face Judging by the stinging at the end of the last IV, her first aggressive cannula flush is going to earn an ow. I have a massive baguette here ready to whack her with. *cackles in illicitly smuggled over the counter drugs*

Don’t just tap it, whack it! I shouldn’t be encouraging violence with baguettes but it does give an enjoyable mental image. As does your special stash! So pleased your temperature has behaved. Not so keen on the oozing of the wound still though. Hope it dries up soon.
