It really is an unpleasant noise. This evening was business as usually although he did 'quack' at me a couple of times when he thought I was going to touch him.
At bedtime he got up on to a swing like usual. Then he always jumps down and comes over the the bars to say goodnight just before I cover him. Tonight he came over but when he reached the area where David caught him he turned around and went to the back part of the cage and jumped up on to what we call the 'safety swing'. It's the hardest part of the cage to reach and it's were any bird would take refuge if we were trying to catch them. I'm not surprise he opted for the safety swing tonight.

Dexter is full of beans this morning.
I forgot to mention that on Monday the scary new green water pot (as mentioned on the stubborn budgie thread) was accepted. It's been in his cage on an off for the past few weeks as an extra pot.

I've yet to meet a budgie who doesn't forgive you after a good night's sleep (assuming the budgie liked you in the first place)

He may have forgiven me but he's gone to bed on the safety swing again tonight, so he's taking sensible precautions.

Dexter trusts me again. He came over to say good night when I covered him up and he went to sleep on the swing at the front of the cage

He's been brilliant today. Singing non-stop and jumping all over me, preening my face and grabbing my nose with his foot when he does so.
He enjoyed having visitors last weekend. My mum and stepdad came to stay and he enjoyed the extra company. He did lots of chattering and they enjoyed trying to work out what he was saying. The only word that I can make out is budgie, although it did sound like he said whisky a few weeks ago but I'm not aware of him ever hearing that so I think it might have been kiss kiss as I'm always saying that too him. He's not said it again since then though.
We have visitors again for a few days next week so I'm sure he will enjoy that too.

Do love a sociable bud. Be interesting what other words you can hear

Dexter sounds like a bundle of fun. I am glad he's over the vet trauma and trusts you again.

Well, the green water pots have gone in the bin because there is rust on the metal hanging hooks. So much for stainless steel! They're made by Trixie and I've had things of theirs go rusty before so I was keeping a close eye on the metal. I've found some white ones on eBay with plastic hooks so hopefully they'll be ok.

*shakes fist at poor metal bits on bird items*
I feel like I stopped trusting metal years ago.

I'm very wary of metal too. I'd been buying the same water pots for years without a speck of rush on the hooks but I can't get them now unfortunately.
