The new water pots arrived and it's a little hard to fit the plastic hooks between the bars but I think it's workable. I will try trimming the pegs a bit shorter which might help. I bought 5 pots so if one or two go wrong during trimming it won't matter.
We're still waiting for Dexter's test result. I emailed the vet this morning just in case I'd missed a call or something. It's his day off today but he's going to chase up the lab on Monday if the result isn't back by then.
Dexter enjoyed his visitors and was very sociable with them.

Still no test result for Dexter. It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow.
I gave him some sweetcorn earlier and he was very wary of it. He jumped on the edge of the food pot and then flew away as fast as he could. He's been eyeing it with suspicion and avoiding that part of the cage. I'll take it away soon and leave a couple of kernels on the cage floor and on his platform
He's actually quite a brave budgie now. We've been moving furniture in and out of the lounge, and moved his cage around too so he was out of the furniture moving and he's not been at all bothered and seemed to find it interesting. A few months back and that sort of thing would have caused him to panic.
He's been tucking in to his spinach and dill and hopefully eating some pellets.

That's frustrating, given that mine came back within a week. Maybe the lab is especially busy. Fingers crossed you find out soon.

The vet just called and Dexter is negative for PBFD! False negatives are possible so not 100% accurate. He did suggest we could have him tested again to be sure. I don't think I put Dexter (or us) through that again though.

I am so pleased for you, criswell! And very, very pleased for Dexter.
Dexter is currently weighing up the pros & cons of getting a feather-buddy so he's bound to be a bit pre-occupied.

Thanks everyone. It really is excellent news.
Dexter is currently on a field trip to my study while David is putting up a shelf in the Dexter's room (aka the lounge). He doesn't seem to mind the change on scene. He's been peering at all the bookshelves, from his cage, while singing away. He is going to get used to being moved about now the big clean and disinfect of the lounge is about to get underway.

That really is great news regarding Dexter’s health results. You will have to upgrade your library if the boy wonder is going to be studying for any amount of time. Some theme related books such as “What Budgie is That?”, “Tales of a travelling Budgie”, “Flight of the Budgerigar” and a must have for a chatterbox: “ Budgerigar: How a brave, chatty and colourful little Aussie bird stole the world's heart” !!
