Here is a video I made of how to trim a budgies beak, although it's really best to get it done by an Avian vet if you do not feel confident doing it yourself.
Sid's beak needs trimming every two weeks so I do it myself, I decided to video it one day in-case anyone would find it useful. I'm afraid the camera isn't really close enough but here it is anyway.

Sid is much better behaved than my Eagle, he starts squarking as soon as he sees me holding the clippers lol been doing his beak every 1-2weeks for allmost a year and he still hasnt got use to it.

Thanks for this Tacey!
Tacey was kind enough to send me this when I asked about beak clipping because I knew that she had to clip Sid's beak.
It is so helpful to see someone actually do the clipping. I watched your video before I clipped Charlies beak and it did give me more confidence in what I was doing.
Sid is such a good boy!!
As Tacey says, never attempt this if you are not confident, do a lot of research first as it's easy to clip too high, which is dangerous as budgies have blood vessels in their beaks.

Lol, Sid used to SCREAM the house down when I approached him with the clippers but he seems to have just accepted now that I'm going to do it anyway!

As I said on the other thread, I only cut off 3mm of beak. I left it slightly long, knowing that he can use it fine and that I didn't cause any injury!

Think it depends on whether you need to. I didn't file Charlies because it was already pretty thin at the end. plus he was so wriggly. Maybe next time though!

That is brilliant, Tacey. Really useful.
I think someone should sticky this as a How To video.

Do budgies beaks need doing? I have put in lots of things that's are said to help trim their beaks! Toys, cuttlefish and a perch that is meant to help their feet and beaks and Kato eats chews all of them

Toys, cuttlefish and a perch that is meant to help their feet and beaks and Kato eats chews all of them Only a small percentage of budgies need their beaks trimming, it can be because of a medical condition, them not wearing it down, etc. You sound like you are doing all the right things so Kato should be fine. His beak definitely looks okay to me
