I've just linked two vids of Maddy today, in the usual thread.
This is so difficult. She's being such a happy little bud this morning so I think, I'll just do such'n'such chore and come back her for her caging. When I come back to her, she's being a happy little soul again and I can't bear to interrupt her.
I will get there, I'll just wait until she's settled down for a snooze or something. Argh! Why wasn't I warned about how cute budgies are?

Well, conditions were perfect. Smudge & Maddy were alone in the Daytime cage, most of the budgies were in the kitchen so I separated Smudge from Maddy and attempted to grab her. Not good. Maddy had learned from the other day and made it very difficult for me. Chocobo started getting angry at the kerfuffle. Maddy slowed down eventually and I thought I was there - and she escaped past my arm into the room. I followed her for a while but she had her second wind. I was forced to net her She's perched in the Geo now and my nerves are jangling because I hate this part of budgie care so much. It's the price I (and my birbs) pay for me not hand-taming them. Now we'll see what her droppings look like. I am 95% sure I saw one of hers earlier this morning. Still a bit watery but with a green core to it in addition to the white urate. It will be good to get confirmation in due course.

Maddy has turned up the guilt setting to 11. She's literally burning holes in my skin

Maddy's had over six hours in the Geo now. Her droppings look entirely consistent with what I consider to be normal output, adjusted for stress of the environment and her not eating very much for the same reason. No sign of any grey droppings, nor any particularly wet ones either. A puzzle.

You’ve got to be well ard in this game Loz 😁. It’s for your own good Maddy really it is.
At the risk of embarrassing Maddy, can we see a pic of her poop 🫢

Tricky to get good shots from outside the cage. These are early droppings from this morning: These were too: This is a later one, very dry: They all seem to be in good shape to me, if a little high in urates. She's not eaten any seeds since being cage and I've not seen her drink. She's nibbled some cavolo nero and possibly a sugar snap.

Those last pics look like my guy's when they are eating alot of fresh foods. I noticed the little corn in the pic - had she eaten some of that? I didn't see anything with the poops that would concern me but others may have a different opinion.

I imagine 5% or less is eaten, the rest gets distributed everywhere else 😊

They certainly don’t look too bad, the urates could be from veg, soft food and of course a little stress from the catch up and move as you say. Id probably do intermittent poop checks like this for a bit just to keep an eye on things. If the watery bit increases or goes yellow It’s more of a concern I think.

I hope Maddy eats some more soon. She hasn't touched her seeds.

How is she today? This is what my Billy's dropping look like. They have been like this for more than 2 years. He used to also do ones that were just yellow water, but that has stopped. He drinks a lot, guess that is why the vet asked me to give avipro avian in the water to replace some of what he loses.

Maddy seems perfectly fine this morning. I checked her overnight output, not much of it (unsurprising as she wasn't really eating) and all of satisfactory colour & consistency. I have released her early - I know but I'm satisfied that her isolation has told me everything that it can. Interestingly, I found a greyish dropping in the kitchen yesterday - it couldn't have been Maddy's. One interpretation is that there is something in the Flock's diet that can lead to grey droppings *headscratch*
My tentative assessment is, I am over-anxious about Maddy because of losing poor Sandy Denny.
I am doing another weighing today and will look to get a measurement for Maddy. Fingers crossed.
