The one on the haith's site seems to have nyger in it. Either that or just canary grass seeds. How about canary seed mix - I thought I'd read it was recommended for budgies.

I know I harp on about Johnston and Jeff budgie seed but it really is good, no grouts or added extras just 50% canary, white and red millet and panicum millet.
I hope little Max perks up, a mix of catching up and meds always unsettles them 🙁

skysmum I've notice there seems to be less and less canary seed in mixes, which is a shame as it's low fat (about 2%) so it's good that Johnston and Jeff has 50%.

It is, I’ve used it for years criswell , a lot of breeders swear by it, they can also add much more to it of course during breeding season but when they don’t need the extra it’s a perfect balance 😊

Do you have a link skysmum to the website you use to buy the seed. Or do you buy it locally?

Thanks all! I usually get a 5kg sack of seed and it lasts a month. Bit annoying they only do 1kg and 3kg, but I'll just have to order more often I guess!

Marianne Marlow Haiths also sell just plain canary seed. You could buy your usual mix and add a decent percentage of canary seed to it. There would then be a lot less of the favourite bits available to pick out!

Thanks blueelephant. The issue with my current mix is that I have been picking out the nyger seeds for 30 minutes each day! I can't really justify chucking it out and starting again as I still have 2-3kg left.
