Marianne Marlow Haiths also sell just plain canary seed. You could buy your usual mix and add a decent percentage of canary seed to it. There would then be a lot less of the favourite bits available to pick out! Super-useful suggestion. I might add canary seed to my usual Haith's order. Last seed mix I had I bought individual seeds and mixed up myself. (Hence the dried herbs and carrot pieces in it, Loz )

How about canary seed mix - I thought I'd read it was recommended for budgies. Canary seed is different to a canary seed mix. Canary seed mixes are usually along the same lines as “foreign finch” mixes - canaries are a finch. Canary seed is a vital part of a budgie seed mix.

I agree that many budgie mixes don’t seem to have the same ratio of canary seed in them as previous. I do as blueelephant does and buy the canary seed separately and add about another third in weight to compensate.

Barney is trying to play with Max, but Max just wants to sit on the swing on his own. He had his meds about half an hour ago.
Was hard getting him to go in to bed last night as he doesn't trust me any more. He wont come over while I am sorting out the seed like he used to.

It's a hard time whilst Max is receiving his meds. In time, he will trust you again but while it's ongoing, he will want to keep his distance. In the meantime it's a case of you both getting through this process.
Hard time for a budgie lover.

It is hard. But at least he’s getting his meds. How long is the course?

I actually do not remember them telling me how long to medicate him for. They said to let them know on Friday how he was. I emailed on Friday and have had no response. I will call them tomorrow morning and ask. It is hard. But at least he’s getting his meds. How long is the course?

Max looks well, Marianne. How do you feel he's doing?
I can't interpret his droppings. What does he eat? His urate proportion seems a little high to me compared to optimal but there seems to be less fluid around the droppings?

I think cos he's being medicated twice a day it means he is getting more fluid than usual, so it is hard to interpret the droppings.
He seems okay, hard to know if he's improving because I am catching him twice a day which affects his mood.
He's definitely not worse.

He's had no nyger seeds for 4 days and they're having just milk thistle in their water for a couple of weeks.

They do look less fluidy. So as they are does that indicate liver?

Hard to say as the antibiotics that he is taking has a yellow tinge to it. I'm sure the meds would affect his droppings too. But he seems pretty lively! That has to be a good sign. When I left earlier he was bashing a bell and now he is singing in front of a mirror. They do look less fluidy. So as they are does that indicate liver?

I'm glad Max is a bit livelier. He looks well in the photo. Hope he doesn't need to many more days of medication.
