Me and my mother was thinking on a heat lamp for piphans. So if she gets sick again then we have a heat lamp for her. Also for her molting periods ? Like this fugleland.dk/forside/191-infrarod-paere-50w.htmlThen we have a floor lamp we can place near her cage. Is this a good idea ? And is that product in the link good ?

My avian vet recommends an infrared full spectrum lamp, similar to what you might get for a reptile. Make sure its not too close to the budgie and that she has an area to perch that is not under the lamp.

Yes the text on the site says the same about the distance and not make it shine on the whole cage

Be aware that you cannot use reptile UVB bulbs on birds. There is something about the intensity or length of the rays in reptile lamps that causes damage to birds’ eyes. You can use ordinary heat bulbs, such as you might use for yourself without a worry, just the above precautions. You may also want to look into a night heat lamp. These don’t emit light, just a low glow mimicking moonlight so the birds’ sleep is not affected. Most you will find are made for reptiles but they don’t have the UVB component that the daylight lamps have so are considered safe for birds.

No worries; I thought it worth repeating as most pet store employees probably don’t have a clue either, if going in to buy a bulb.

Ok i see..yes the heat bulp is sold from a site called Birdland and it says every bird owner needs this for ther bird if its sick... Can you link me any lamps so we can look on the right ones ?
Also Piphans is still eating alot and sleeping alot. She eats more often than she usuall does. She did eat a bit of egg the last day.But She is still sillent and dosent play with her toys or chew in the stuff she use to chew in. And she use to hang in my mothers dreamcatchers and destroy em. But its been over a month since she last had this interrest.
All she does now is eat and sleep and preen. Her droppings looks normal and are not thin anymore. So thats at least a good thing.
We had her for like 3 years and she never eated millets but now she suddenly eats alot of millets. She dosent look sick, and she likes to sit on my finger and sleep with her head in the back. Sometimes i can scratch her head with my nose. She likes that.
We have given her medicine for infections in 10 days and "nutritional supplements" for animals in that tupe. And we keep the room heated up and give her several kinds of seed food with vitamins and everything that is good for birds. She also gets fresh fluid vitamins in her water dayli
So we dont know what is wrong with piphans at the moment. It can be the molting is taking a toll on her like you mentioned but she has been like this since i started this thread. Some days looks to be better than others with her.
Whole novemember has been like this. But she went from being very sick and throwing up seeds and not eating much to eating and sleeping the whole day away. She still has few pins in her head but not so many that it looks like it could be the problem.
We are just guessing here about her health. Maybe she is just getting old suddenly since we dont know her age.

I think the lamp you are looking at would be good for her. If there is anything like that that I’m unsure about I look at what others have had to say about the product. That may help you decide.
I’m sorry that Piphans is still not 100%. Unfortunately many changes can fit many different health problems and hers fit into these - vague ill-health, low energy, nothing you can really pin down. I think you are doing as much for her as you can.

Everyday when i come home from work then i rush up to my mother and sit with piphans close up against my face so she can get heated by me. She likes that and it seems to help a bit. She does chirp a bit when she see me. So yes we do everything we can to aid piphans back to health.

Can anyone recommend me a heatlamp or heat bulp ? Prefer one i can get from EU Denmark Or link me what i need to look for.. We are gona try to keep piphans extra warm with a heatlamp. Its just confusing to look at for us since we know nothing about these lamps. If i google budgie heat lamps then i get some lamps for reptile or most arcticles says we can use a coloured bulp. But i dont know exactly what a coloured bulp is...do i just buy a 40w bulp and paint it red with a red marker of some sort ?
Also can we use the heat lamp in the nighst where she is inside her cage sleeping ? Or how many hours a day can we use it and for how long a period ?

To answer your question regarding a lamp at night, read back to what I mentioned regarding a night heat lamp, most will be for reptiles but don’t have the UVB component so are safe for birds, provide heat for the cold-blooded reptiles but won’t keep your bird awake all night as they emit what they call moonlight lighting only. Reading something recently about the infrared rays saying that they don’t actually give off heat but warm anything close to the source, so while you won’t notice any radiated heat, it will warm Piphans. Make sure she is able to move away from the light to cool down if she needs to. The link below may help you, these are manufacturers of bird-safe lighting (not so sure about heat lamps); they may be able to give you so advice. www.arcadiabird.com/products/Or, if you have a heat lamp used on humans, you can use this, just not at night as the light will disturb her sleep.
