Nice one Marianne:) The type of eucy tree I have apparently grows to 50ft! I think its a cedar or cider gum. I have it in the ground, but prune it so regularly for the budgies it never gets over 5ft! When I got it it was about 18 inches high and took a couple of years to establish, but since then theres no stopping it:) You can buy eucy seeds on ebay for a couple of pounds. They germinate really easily:)

He hee. Here's my eucy! It's four storeys high and growing in my neighbour's backyard. It's just a fluke that it's growing right next to the top of my house where I can reach it. Otherwise they are just too tall to reach the leaves.

WOW Stace! You are sooo lucky! Love the idea of getting one, only trouble for me is I dont have a garden (as I live in a flat) and I don't have a balcony either! Would it be content with staying in a pot indoors? Mmm, will have to think about that

There are several different types of Euccy trees and I believe that they are all okay for budgies.
Perhaps one of our other members could confirm?

Some they seem to prefer over others, but they like them all I think. Don't ask me which are their favourites as I don't know the proper names.

There are literally hundreds of eucalyptus types (over 700) and I am sure there are some that would be suitable for limited light situations. I think you would need to find a very good landscaper/garden centre/horticulturist to help you find the best for your situation, Sam.

I just really meant that your whole growing situation "over there" is so different from home ...... I wouldn't know what was good and what wasn't. Your gardeners should. And ebay sellers are going to sell things that work, so I think you are safe, Marianne.
