Well we only have Babybird and she lives in the living room 24H no cage. I think she has cage phobia Is the room completely dark at night? I ask because Kona and Pepper (Cockatiels) don't like going back into their cage. They finally go in when they want more food badly enough. I've been tempted to leave them out several times, but I need to turn the lights off in the bird room at night. I wonder if they would be okay.

Babybird usualy finds her resting spot "bed" around 22.00 in the evening. Its the sky snake robe she sits in. Then my my mother also go to bed around that time. So the room gets darker but there are still some street lights. So its not 100 % dark. But she dosent make any move or sound at nights. So she is ok sleeping outside the cage
perhaps you can buy some dim lights ? Or some of these leds strips that can be dimmed
We use waxed table cloth for the poo under the robe. Its easy to wash of. Just a tip

I meant to mention that we had some plug in lights when Eve was small. They would come on when the light levels dipped. Those could work if you have some free wall sockets.

Birbs are driving me nuts. The hen budgies are hassling some of the boys and it's getting noisy. Quincy keeps hopping onto my laptop keyboard whenever I try to use it, causing typing "issues" and the unplanned closure (and opening) of apps.
Get birbs as pets, they said. It'll be fun, they said!

Willow (female Budgie) seems a bit subdued lately. She was the queen of our Budgies, and Basil followed her everywhere. Now he is more interested in Misfit, who currently has a brown cere. And sometimes he feeds Violet, whose cere is still mostly white. Once or twice, Misfit has even chased Willow away from treats/food in my hand.

I used to use these in the inside flight of the aviary, really good incase of any night frights š Iām thinking of getting some solar garden lights so I can place them around the aviary strategically in case of potential night frights. The lights at the house close by are way too strong but the solar lights should be about right.

Good idea Hezz. I love the idea of solar power, but have been unable to find a way to use it effectively! I have two small fold out panels, but can only really use them on my window sil. Unfortunately I can only leave the window with the mesh open, so when the sun moves, I don't get much power through the glass. I'm not brave enough to attach them to my rucksack!
