Finrod is currently asking Hector what he thinks he's playing at. Hector had just been playing beaky-bashy with Squeak of all people - the same Squeak who is normally chasing Hector half-way around the cage when she is of a mind to do so.

Babybird has learned a new sound Now she likes to say " Wraaa" like a dinosaurus. I think she picked up the sound from my mother when she is angry. She often says similar sounds XD Im trying to learn BB to talk and say simple words since it sounds like she can talk or imitate words we say. Maybe it will come one day when she speaks

We don't know why she chose their names. She also says "Winston", one of the dogs' names. And "Sprite" and "Good birds".

The birds are currently chirping in the bird room. One of the Cockatiels, probably Kona, has been singing a little. It's not quite time for me to turn on the lights in there yet.
I wonder, though, if I might be doing this wrong. Do you all wake your birds up when they make noise, or when it's a certain time?

In the Summer, I uncover the budgies and open the curtains at a certain time, that time being about 30 minutes after the budgies have started singing, or around the time Chocobo starts yelling (on the mornings she decides to yell). This ends up being between 0615 and 0700, more or less. This usually coincides with the time it starts to get light in the bird room.
In the Winter, I normally uncover around 0700-0730. Uncovering often happens before the budgies have begun to stir. I would like to leave them longer but I have things to do in the day! I might see if I can come up with an alternative strategy in the Winter, in order to give the birds a lay-in. *ponders*

Its strange indeed She also picked up some kind of electronic device sound..we cant figure out where the sound comes from but it sounds like you power on something and a small bip tune are played. Or it could be a notice sound from my mothers phone. We just cant put a finger on it
Also when she can say sounds then why dosent she say words

Unless I’m making a noise in the morning he stays quiet until he wants to do his morning poo - at about 8am. If he doesn’t get let out then (if I’m not home) he’ll go quiet again, do his poo and is happy to entertain himself in his cage until I come home. The budgies start to stir as soon as it starts to get light.

Visions of a little on suite bathroom are coming into my head with Loki 😂
Mine start chatting when it gets light but are happy to wait until I uncover them

The budgies start to stir as soon as it starts to get light. I once watched an owner on YouTube, who doesn't cover cages because she thinks it turns the cage into a "big breeding box" and makes the bird(s) hormonal. I don't understand that reasoning, because this temporary "breeding box" is bigger than any nest that a bird would naturally choose/make. Also, the bird(s) would not expect an actual nest to disappear every morning.

I just gave up covering the budgies, couldn’t even tell you why now - probably because they couldn’t be covered in the aviary, maybe, but no real reason. Their chatter blends in with the normal wild bird chatter around the house; it is not intrusive. Loki is covered simply because he is so loud, and if he isn’t covered his awake time is earlier, too early for the others in my house. skysmum, I wish, 😜 I t would be a handy thing to have. It is not something I have encouraged, just something he has done himself. That big morning poop is not something I’d want to be in a cage with either, so I do understand his reluctance.
