There isn't really - they've been having a mixture of seed, fruit sticks, carrot, broccoli and chickweed for weeks - they seem chirpy enough, but I just wondered if it was anything to worry about!

Runny droppings are the first sign of something wrong but perfectly healthy budgies can also have that. You are the best judge, as you said they are active enough.

My newest addition seems pretty happy - he's eating well and playing and stuff, but I noticed that the feathers around his vent have poo on them. It looks like healthy poo, so I don't understand what's going on there. Anyone got any suggestions?

A little more detail and some pictures would help to pin point the issue.

A kind forum member has emailed me a photograph of her budgies droppings to show what they look like when the bird has been diagnosed with Megabacteria. Thank you Ruth and Pepito. I was reading this thinking of how much we love our budgies. Only a true budgie lover would appreciate receiving bird poo by e mail.

Very interesting. What is Megabacteria-what treatment works and do they regurgitate continuously? My 1 male is sick. Its possibly Mega bacteria or a Fungal Crop infection. Have treated with metstatin powder sprinkled on seed (from vet) Baytril liquid in water, and special Multivitamin powder vet gave me for stress and vitamin supplement. Will this be enough or will he die?

A few days, in the morning when the cover has come off, bailey's overnight poops have been wetter. These were after the nights where he was in and out his bath and drinking lots. Is that normal?
