Unfortunately a number of bird diseases present with similar symptoms. This is why you would need if not an avian vet to diagnose then at least one who has had a lot of bird experience.
Why not PM Barrie? Ask him to read this thread and give his valuable opinion? With the extra info, he may be able to narrow it down for you.

Those droppings indicate a severe digestive problem. The undigested seeds means he will not be gaining nutrients from his food. The bright green in the urates would indicate some kind of infection, or two.
Vets need to test the droppings, and swabs from their throat, to gauge exactly what the infections are and which bacteria are present, if they are secondary infections arising from some other main problem, and therefore, which type of medication (s) might deal with it.

His droppings keep changing they mostly have seed in them. Sometimes he will just do ones with clear liquid and abit of white liquid. Other times he will do green ones that look abit slimy but more formed. His latest have been the slimy but more formed with green liquid around it. Earlier this morning he had done lots of droppings but mostly made up of seed with abit of other stuff. It doesn't look very good at the moment he is fluffed up rather quiet and isn't responding when I touch his ball toy so I know he isn't feeling so good plus an hour ago he did vomit lots of liquid and some seeds. He is doing the odd chirp and still perching on one of his highest perches. I am still giving him baytril that the vet perscribed in his water but I don't think it will do much good. The avian vet he saw last year is a long car journey away I'm not sure he would survive the stress of it. From previous experience they perscribed baytril back then as well so I'm not sure they would do much different this time. I don't know what to do now feel like I'm just waiting for the end I can't see how he will recover from this.

I'm so sorry that you guys have little access to good avian vets. If a vet cannot properly identify the problem, there's little chance they can hope to fix it.

So Merlin has had me on a right rollercoaster this past few days. Yesterday he looked like he was going to die but today I have a active alert budgie who is eating, chirping and talking and responds if you touch his ball toy. His last few droppings have become solid again. A couple looked semi normal. The last two droppings he did had a couple of seeds in them but not as many as usual and they were formed and of a normal shape. I know this doesn't mean much but it is nice to see him like this and not how he was yesterday! I will post pics etc soon.

I do hope Merlin continues to improve. I have recently been on that very same ride - it is not nice. All the best wishes that we see a happy, healthy Merlin in the future.

Merlin mid playing with his ball toy bit blurry as hard to get action shots on this camera. Merlins general condition this evening His droppings today These are photos of him this evening! It is still an ongoing thing he seems to of improved but his droppings are still not right but they are more solid which is good. He appears to be eating lots a massive change from last weekend where he hadn't eaten a thing in over 24 hours and I really thought it was the end for him. I'm just taking things one day at a time as his health really can change in an instant. I think the baytril is helping abit. I have been looking up AGY and there seems to be mention of garlic and thyme as being things that could possibly help. Does anyone know anything more about these?

Those poops look much much improved from those seed-filled lurid green ones you put up last time.
Merlin is a lovely budgie. I really hope you can get him back to full health.

It's pretty hard to get them to eat garlic.
You could try some sort of infusion with the thyme and garlic in hot water and use it for his water?
cooled of course!

I agree with both Stace about improvement in poop and Marianne about garlic

Just a brief update his poo looks tons better he has done plenty of droppings and they are all solid and look fairly normal for him at least. He is eating plenty and seems to be playing and chatting etc. I am surprised he managed to come back from this one because last weekend it looked so bad.
Marianne - How would I go about making an infusion. Do you mean literally buying the herb and garlic and putting it in some hot boiled water then strain it with a sieve and give it him cooled? Would it be safe to try this without knowing for certain it is AGY that he has? I'm nervous about trying new things so I'm eager to improve his health but I don't want to make anything worse.
Thanks for everyones advice in this thread. Will add on some pics of him from just now in a minute.

Recent droppings from overnight Where did Merlin go? There he is These are from just before. I don't know how his long term health will pan out but I am glad to see how much he has improved since last weekend.
