Sadly Merlin has yet again had another very bad relapse. This is the worst he has ever been ill and I fear he may die this time. With it being easter we are struggling to even get a vet that will be open to see him especially on a sunday. I don't think he will make it to tuesday so I'm not sure what to do. His first symptoms were first of all he was all bunged up his poo went really tiny and I had to keep cleaning his vent then when he did start pooing abit more normally he started having some undigested seeds in the poo, then some grey coloured poo. The occasional liquid white poo with clear liquid around it and vomiting seeds. I thought something was up at the begining because when I went to uncover him in the mornings he has usually jumped off his swing right away but he hadn't been doing that for a few days but with his health being up and down I didn't act straight away as he initially appeared to be getting better as his poo had gone more normalish (black and white and formed) and the vomiting stopped but now he has had an even worse relapse. He won't eat anything at all including millet. This has gone on all day so I'm worried he will become so weak he will have no chance of beating this. When he goes to his seeds he picks it up then discards it like he can't eat. He keeps vomiting clear liquid now and his poos are just liquid green and white . I tried guardian angel in his water which worked in the begining when he first seemed abit unwell but after this relapse he won't even drink anything. I don't think he will survive til tuesday when the vets are open. I don't know if there is anything I can do at this stage. If anyone has any advice on what I can do to make him more comftable or at least help him abit please comment. Everything I google his symptoms I get so many things that it could that I no longer know what he has except that it is bad. This is why I've described everything I can. I don't know if it is canker or AGY or something else. It is so sad Merlin is such a clever talking budgie with tons of personality I hate seeing him in this way. Just trying to keep him warm and keeping him company for now.

Until the reason is found or vet is available, your best bet now is to at least feed him some liquid. See if you crop feed Guardian Angel or someone in your area. Or at least hold him and put a few drops of thick Guardian Angel in his beak every few hours and make sure it passes through. Keep him covered from all side but front. Also keep him warm through a light or something.

I've got him to take a couple of drops of guardian angel just hoping he at least keeps it down. I really want him to eat at least something the fact he has eaten nothing all day that scares me the most because if he eats nothing then he will just get weaker and weaker. His poo looks so bad as well all liquid My partner is contacting his friends mum who is a vet in the hope that she may be able to help us she did help us in the past but his first problem ( very bad clagging of the vent) although life threatening if untreated was easier for her to treat and he recovered once she cleared the blockage whereas I don't think she can treat what he has now very easily. It is difficult with timing of it being easter weekend and being closed the one weekend I need them the vets to be open. We did ring the avian vets earlier in the week who said to give him the guardian angel and bring him in if he vomited again but at the time it seemed like he was recovering until his major relapse today. They are not very near either. The avian vet did treat him back in oct with baytril and avri pro plus for something similar to what he has now but the difference was he wasn't quite as bad as this as he still ate and his poo wasn't like it is now and I think thats why he recovered then. I should be going to bed but it so hard not knowing if he will be here in the morning or not.

So sorry for Merlin, misssherlock. I don't have any advice to give you, as you are doing what you can for now. It is always the way, a long weekend, when something bad happens. I hope you get some good advice from your friend's mum, but from your description, things don't sound good. I sincerely hope things improve for Merlin and you get some answers.

He has a digestive problem coupled with thricho or megabacteria , if a vet prescribes baytril then refuse it.

He is still with us but it really doesn't look good. Still haven't heard back from the my partners friends mum but at this stage I'm not sure they could even do anything. He won't eat a thing and he still has liquid poo last time I checked on him he was shivering despite the room being warm and a heater being on in the room to keep it warm for him. ....I just checked on him and I think he keeps trying to vomit clear liquid again. He did have some more water with guardian angel in it but I don't think he even keeps it down. He is just perched on top of one of his toys looking very sorry for himself. I think he was moulting as well. Funnily enough when he is moulting is always when he seems to get ill and when theres a change in weather. I'm trying to put things into perspective he had an extra 5 months with us that he didn't look like he would of had. I have always known he has poor health. He is a lutino budgie apparently where we got him from said they were exhibition budgies but he has only ever been a pet. It feels like a rollercoaster at the moment as I can't do anything and I'm just waiting for the worst to happen Is there any possible way I can get food into him as he won't touch seeds or millet spray even when soaked, held up to him etc. I don't think he has a fighting chance without any food in him. Is there anything else left that I can try at this stage?

IF you try and force feed the bird will die of stress, i am sorry to say but you have one very ill bird that has no quality of life left, i cannot see how a vet can help you.

Well he seemed abit more alert played with his toy and was affectionate towards me. He has eaten a very very small amount of seed recently but it seems he can't eat the big seeds only the little ones. We may have the opportunity for the vet I mentioned to see him tomorrow. So we shall see what happens. He still chirps and says the odd phrase but I do hate being on this rollarcoaster!

Just stay positive as I said on facebook and personally I would say definitely take him to the vets tomorrow regardless of him seeming a bit better. Budgies are very good at hiding their illnesses and there is obviously something wrong so he needs to be seen. Let me know how you get on okay x

Yeah I still want to take him to the vets Rachael don't get me wrong I wasn't saying he was better in my last message as he is far from that. It is only a slight improvement really and he still only ate about 10 seeds if that and his poo is still horrific and I don't feel very optomistic really. The main problem is this is not an avian vet and if she sees us it will be as a favour because of my partner know her son for years she normally doesn't treat birds as she is not keen on them but she did save his life when he had a very bad clagged vent. Last time we took him to an avian vet and thats what I'd prefer him to see really but again its easter monday and our options are limited. He is back to being quiet and fluffed up again.

Poor Merlin, I do feel for you both. I hope the vet can give him some relief.
