By the way, this eHow website had a page on "How to Breed Budgies", and all the info was wrong. It was about a year ago. I hope they have fixed that now.

I can't believe that a shop would intentionally sell feather duster budgies!! I would be fuming if I saw them, i would tell them straight and threaten to report them if they did nothing about it. I would also want to take them off them, not pay for them of course, but the poor things deserve some sort of life no matter how short it is! Did you say anything to the staff Rachel?

poor birds and poor people who will buy them not knowing they arnt healty. Prehaps the shop owners dont know about them, ive been to shops befor that didnt have a clue about the aniamsl there were selling, one was even selling japanese quails as chinese quails as they thought the tiny ones were the japanese. Ive been asked befor if im going to breed my budgies to get more flightless birds (mine have beak and feather diease). I then lecture them on how unhealthy my birds are.

That is one of the saddest and sorriest things I have ever seen! Thanks to Rachel for bringing it to our attention.

I'm kicking myself I didn't say anything when I was there yesterday. I have rung them today, the guy I spoke to said he only found out today that they live a short life and die a slow painful death(YEH RIGHT). When I asked him if he was going take them off the shop floor, he replied NO. This guy had a bad attitude and didn't seem to care at all. Now I'm so angry I don't know what to do. I could call RSPCA but I don't think they could do anything about it, or call Consumer Affairs because they are selling an animal they now KNOW is going to die soon. I just hope no one buys them.

Some people have no moral compass. It amazes me.

It is absolutely sick isn't it? People not giving a (well you know) just to make money. Makes me so angry. And those poor birds didn't have a choice, bred for looking that way and it being a defect. I'm going to go and make a cuppa before I explode!

The world is going crazy and just when you think it can't get any worse....it gets worse! It's all for money and we live in a disposable world now too so hey what does it matter!! Shocking, why do people breed them and why do they buy them. It's like puppy farming, we rescued a beagle who was from a puppy farm and she was never a 'normal' beagle. I know some people who breed sporadically and it's just for the money, they aren't trained, proper breeders, grrrr.......

No show breeder wants to breed feather dusters. It's just that sometimes things go wrong and a feather dusters is born. But having a webpage on "how to breed feather dusters" is really crazy thing. Did anybody get a reply from them?
