It's sad, they simply can't cope with their body requirement. I wonder if someone had ever thought of making a very high protein supplement for them.

Rachel hasn't been back on (I think) but she did cause a number of people to contact the store, who rescinded all responsibility (and knowledge) of these being high-maintenance, low life-expectancy birds. The general consensus was that the store was still culpable, but stupidly whoever had bred these birds had rung them. I am sure there will be back-lash because of this, and someone will have some very hard questions to answer.
I hope Rachel doesn't mind me providing this info.

Charlie, I understand your anguish. The shop in question was in Australia, if that helps.

How to Breed Feather Dusters?[/quote] Hands up all those who believed the above. Lol Members of this & many other sites have been pairing so called English budgies, (show drop outs) with the smaller pet types birds for years. Without breeding any dusters. Though they are on the increase due to the obsession with extra feather length in top class show birds. When a feather duster is hatched someone has to look after them. Just the same as any disabled budgie. Some compassionate person might take them on & give them a happy life for the short time they are here. Yours B.J.
