Poor old Freddie is sick again:( Hes had a tumour for over 2 years now which affects his voice and breathing. Hes very suceptible to infection because of this and hes got a whole load of bacteria going on in his crop again:( Baytril again and cross fingers! Hes reguirgitating much of what he eats and has lost alot of weight just in a day and a half. Fortunately hes not had to have baytril for a long time so hopefully he might respond to it. Hes made many a comeback in the past and once or twice hes been so bad I've been about to take him to be pts and hes suddenly improved, so I won't be doing that in a hurry! Hes not at the fluffy stage yet, but is very uncomfortable in his crop:(

Hi Nat, hope this is just another minor setback for you guys.
With the crop infection, once Freddie is off his course of meds, try weak pure camomile tea twice a week for a month or two. It is supposed to be good at rebalancing the bacteria /PH in their digestive system.

Oh, no, Nat. Freddie had been doing so well, had been healthy for quite some time now. I hope you have gotten on top of it quickly enough so he bounces back quickly too. C'mon Freddie.

Thanks for the supportive posts:) I've not seen him regurgitate again, and gagging without bringing anything up has been the norm for a long time. Its hard to keep him in the hospital cage as he quite literally squeezes past my hand when I open the door!

At the moment he can only manage millet spray without bringing it back up, but since hes on his own he can have an unlimited amount of it and I think he might have regained a bit of weight again. From last time I know he'll manage soaked groats but he'll have to wait till the baytrils finished because of the water content. Apart from that he is still active although needs to catnap throughout the day as his breathing squeak keeps him from sleeping properly at night.

Nat ha you tried getting him an iodine injection? sounds just like blueboy. I think his tumor stopped him ingesting iodine properly.

I haven't Marianne. The vet hasn't suggested it:/ I use Ioford iodine supplement in the water sometimes. Perhaps I should start giving him it more frequently when hes off the antibiotics?
