I haven't Marianne. The vet hasn't suggested it:/ I use Ioford iodine supplement in the water sometimes. Perhaps I should start giving him it more frequently when hes off the antibiotics? I would Nat

I think this would be a good idea, Nat. I can't see how it would do any harm either, if he is iodine deficient. You could start it and work up to more frequently slowly so you can moniter the effect it has. I sincerely hope Freddie continues to be active and the baytril helps him through again. Fingers and feathers crossed for him.

I think I'll definately try it. It can't hurt:) Thanks for the feedback guys:)
Freddies looking much better today and has definately gained a bit of weight back. When he finishes the baytril he'll go back to the aviary (as thats the only place hes happy) but he can come out from 12-7pm and be loose in the birdroom with his ioford and millet spray. He's lived loose on several occasions before and seems to enjoy it:) When I first got him at 5 months old he hated being in the cage with the others and had to have his own seed pot, perch and water on the outside lol! Since then he kinda thinks thats his entitlement;) He was living a few hours outside everyday after last time he was really sick and his 4 naughty grown up chicks used to fly out to visit him and pinch his millet spray;)

How are the "children" now, Nat? Did you keep them all? And Randy still being a demanding little madam? Good going Freddie, keep getting better little man. We all love you.

He is! He never gives up:) Hes stopped wanting to come out of the aviary for the last couple of days which makes a change as he usually he loves to come out for his secret stash of millet spray in the birdroom which he has told his wife and kids about but nobody else;) They come out with him but go back in after scoffing their faces but Freddie usually has wanted to stay outside and have a peaceful sleep for a few hours. Although Flux has copped on to the secret stash and comes out too now! Flux has a very demanding fat wife as does his dad, so poor Fuzzy)(dad) and Flux are always needing to top up to feed their ever hungry hens:-O Flux and Freddies chicks annoy the hell out of the celestials when they are out millet thieving by making a point of stomping on their roof! Freddie and Randy would do no such bad manered thing lol:)

Great to know that Freddie is perking back up. I do hope he stays strong and healthy. Hopefully he is feeling much better if he doesn't want his time-out. Randy - living up to her name! Minx!

Hi all! An update on Freddie...Since I last posted he hasn't felt the need to have time out of the aviary:) God only knows how hes pulled it off yet again! Those of you that were on the old forum might remember pics of his origonal chest tumour the size of his head which disappeared. Even the vet had no explanation to this! I'm swearing by the eucalptus and swiss chard diet
