Hi, quick rundown. My daughter mentioned yesterday that Kiwi had brown slimy marks on his front. I was not worried as I had just put thier bath out for them and thought he was just wet. To be honest I was too busy with baby Skittles to check him and thought nothing of it. Well today the marks are still there but he looks and is acting fine- eating playing etc. Any ideas please?

It looks like to me that something got spilled and dried on the feathers. Check the skin under the feathers.

Only thing I could think of is could it be where he has pooped in his bath water an accidently bathed in it? After all budgies do poop a lot...anywhere! But I'm with BB, check under his feathers too

Looks like he may have regurgitated something, been a little sick maybe. I also think best to look under feathers make sure he hasn't cut himself.

So sorry everyone. I got caught up with a washing machine that flooded . Don't laugh at me but you were spot on as about an hour later it was all dry and gone I just panicked after my daughter mentioned it before . He probably didn't bathe in it I think it was Lilly chasing him and he fell in by accident ;D Thanks anyway

Glad all has been cleaned off; sorry about the washing machine. Is good that the family are observant with the budgies. Much better to be too cautious than too late.

Thanks Mick. I think he is sick after all. He has the same slimy brown stuff as in photos and seed stuck to it and his beak area is wet, no stains though. Thier cage also smells really fishy and the poo is light green and runny. Now, I am lucky I have a vet about 2 mins from me but how do I catch transport them? Also I am thinking I might as well take Lilly as if he has something there is a great chance she will get it too?? What do you think ? he is eating etc but just doesn't look his usual self. I am not worried about a wasted trip to vet if it turns out he is fine but more about the stress of catching them and transporting them.My thinking is better safe than sorry and they will get over it ?? Not sure as never done this before. Oh and I dont have a travel cage although I could pop out tomorrow and buy one or 2. Do I need to put them in seperate cages for vets? I also have lots of shoeboxes. Thanks for help

Thanks for help i cant say i no whats wrong with him ... but i do think you need to go to the vets .... a shoe box will be ok as its not far .... just put some air holes in the lid... and tape it up .... or elastic bands to hold the top on ... they will be fine in there ... please let us no what the out come is ...

Just what I was thinking, Mick. Trichomonas gives them a fishy smell. Outnumbered, as you are already going to the vet, remember to mention this to them. It could help with their diagnosis. And yes, all birds will need to be treated. Poor Kiwi. Hope he is better soon. Let us know how you get on.

Well you folks were correct he has sour crop/ canker, poor thing. I have put him in a small cage next to Lilly as I think he needs time to recover alone. He doesn't look well today and stinks, I coudn't believe the smell The vet gave him Batryl one a day so lets hope it works.
