I'm going to look at a cage later off gumtree. I've looked at similar ones online and I think the bars are spaced 16mm 5/8ths. I've read slot of mixed reviews but do you think I will be safe with this as long as I keep an eye on em? Preferably would to for 1/2 inch but I can't find a decent sized on with that spacing. Also how do I clean it if I get it and what with? Which parts aswell. Thanks in advance

I think 16mm bars are a bit wide. the bars on my cage are 9 to 10mm spacing. Budgies can get into very small gaps. I think you might be risking it with 16mm they might ge caught up in it

Yeh I think the one I've got at the min is 10mm but its tiny for 2 of em.. This cage is only £20 so I might give it a go and hold onto my old cage just incase.

It's quite a decent cage tbh. I'm goin back to get it in a while. The woman who owns it has an aviary with lots of birds n it's hardly been used. How should I wash it when I get it and what with? She said dhe has cleaned it anyway but I will still

That will be ok wont it? rust can kill budgies .... if you can rub it down and respray it then it be fine ... but if you cant ... id bin get another cage ... they bite and lick it ... and get ill some die ...some dont ... its not worth risking your budgies heath... regards mick...

Yeh will probly try repairing it in the near future tbh. Will see if it gets any worse. There is a tiny bit of rust on the roof if the cage away from anywhere the birds would go and a tiny bit on one bar on the back of the cage away from any perches or anything. They don't seem to be chewers at the minute tho but will keep an eye on em.

I wouldnt risk it-would sort it out sooner rather than later keveinandmia-you could be away from them for a short while and they decide they want to explore the top of the cage (as budgies do)...its really not worth risking the life of your birds is it?

Also how do these birds survive in the wild when it seems just about anything will kill them... You are probably right but it all seems just a tad bit over the top in my opinion. I don't even look after myself as well as these birds need. All this stressing about everything is kinda taking the fun out if it all...

If you were to touch it in with a bit of Hammerite, which I am told is safe for birds, it wouldn't take long and give you peace of mind. You can get small pots that aren't too expensive.
