Hopefully the picture speaks for itself. I noticed that his cere was a little flakey the other day but thought first that it was probably nothing. However, now it has become worse? I have search through the forum and google and can't find anything particular similar. The only thing I can guess myself that it's just a bit dry? Read somewhere to dab a little oil over it? Just noticed as well that his tail is shaking a little bit, not a lot but kind of just vibrates if that make sense? Please help!

I went with my gut feeling and thought I'd give it a try to dab it with oil, most of it came off but it's still a little bit round his nostrils but I'll give it a try later on when he has hopefully stopped hating me lol But I'm also a bit concerned about his beak, the fact that it's green with a quite wide yellow rim. He has cuttlebone and lots of things he could chew but he's not chewing anything. Is it possible I need to trim his beak? It's really hard to get a good picture of his beak.

Bubs, you appear to have developed a stammer. I don't know what you can do about his beak but am interested to find out.

Haha my computer were being slow so I got annoyed and pressed the button a few times extra lol His beak has been like that since I got him, but the yellow rim has become wider. It's so hard to take a good picture of the beak but I'll give it a try!

I know what you mean as my old Bertie had the same thing around his beak. But he died before I had to worry about it. It wasn't too bad but I think it would have got worse given time.

There is a condition called scaly face that you may wish to look up. Oil is good as the old cure is vaseline on the cere and beak. Others more experienced than me may look at the pictures and be more certain. Are there scales around the eye?
Some birds have a condition where the beak grows without it wearing down by itself, regardless of cuddle bone and wooden perches. I have had a few birds myself and as it appeared a genetic condition, I got rid of this line of birds. It looked like they had an "overbite" and was a lot worse than what your pictures show. We used to trim down the beak with strong nail clippers.

Scaly face was my first guess put can't find any good pictures of how it looks in the early stages, all pictures on the internet seem to be of the most severe cases :s It's nothing round the eyes or on his feet, only on the beak.

I'm not sure about this from the photos.
Could be that ... a) Charlie is a hen in disguise b) Charlie has a testosterone problem. c) Charlie has some form of scaly
I've seen some odd things, particularly with those white birds. I can't really see that the beak looks overgrown from those photos.
Just wait till someone comes on who might know for sure.

I'm sure he's a male because the cere is dark blue under all the nastiness, hard to take a good picture. I'm mainly concerned about the colour of his beak, its dark green with a yellow rim. I haven't seen any other bird with a green beak. If it is scaly face he has, could the colour of the beak have anything to do with it?

Thank you Starlingqueen, this was very interesting. He still hasn't tried any of the fruit or veg I've given him so he's only munching seeds. Maybe that could be a contribution? Hopefully he will learn from Toni when he gets to be with her. Either way I will get some ivermectin asap just in case.

This is the picture that was in the article that Starlingqueen linked. It's very similar to Charlie but Charlies cere is dark blue originally. The bird in the picture do actually look like a hen to me...

Have you tried mixing a small amount of finely grated carrot or apple in with some seed? They have trouble avoiding it that way or even get the tiny flowers from broccoli and mix them with seed.
Just a few ideas. You've probably already tried them.

I have tried to grate a mixture and put it in a separate bowl near the seeds, chopped them in different sizes... But I didn't think of mixing it with the seed. I will do that tommorrow and hopefully this will improve his condition.
