I got home today to find Filamel looking a bit fluffed up and with not a pretty rear end :-( Shes still well enough not to let me catch her in the aviary without causing total mayhem! But, her look is not good. I don't think I'll have too much probs catching her early tomorrow morning when the lights are out. It looks like bacterial infection as its come on very suddenly, shes obviously cold, her poops are not exactly bad yet, but sticking. I've put the heating on in the birdroom tonight and she has flown to a very hard to get to swing hanging from the ceiling so it can't be too bad yet. I don't want to disturb them all by catching her at this time of evening as its when they all have their last feed, including her. If I put her in isolation now then she'll miss a feed through stress and that won't help. Shes still able to feed. Oh heck.....It doesn't matter how many budgies you have, its so horrible to have an ailing one :-(

Thanks guys. Well today she still looked a bit fluffed, but I stupidly had turned the heating off this morning just out of habit Turned it back on at lunchtime and gave everyone some carrot stuck through the aviary bars and was very surprised that she was one of the first ones to fly over to get some. Even hanging upside down to do so! But she still looks wrong. I tried to catch her and failed, but she has no poop stuck to her vent now. I've got to muck out the aviary because of the carrot fest but not sure whether to leave her there or not? I hate putting aviary birds in isolation before they are 'really' sick as they fret, don't eat and probably get worse because of that Ohhhhh, what to do. I spose if she still won't be caught then shes not too bad

I've managed to catch her by tempting her onto a long rope perch with wire through it, then transported her straight out of the aviary and through the isolation cage door! Lol,I forgot I'd taught all the chicks how to do that when they fledged! Shes started a weeks course of antibiotics in the drinking water. Her vent is clean but bare, and her poops are large and slightly greenish, but at least she is pooping which means shes still eating :-) At least now shes in a cage on her own I can moniter her droppings properly :-) She is very lively though and less fluffed up if I keep the room warm. Its like Barbados in there lol :-)
