I believe the cock has a fair hand in the raising part Hezz. It all seems to be much like budgies apart from the slightly earlier fledging and the greater liklihood of them making lunch of the chicks in the early stages and greater urge to kill them on fledging! :-O I think I'm going to leave them to it if they hatch and just hope it works out and only handrear if I see any funny business going on....hopefully in time!

Good luck with them, Nat. How long to incubate?

All sounds a bit tricky and scary Nat. But I know you will do good

21 days if I remember right Hezz. Of course I've lost the bit of paper where I wrote down the egg dates but I can look back on the thread for that lol I haven't checked yet if theres a third egg today but shes sitting on 5 dummies and 2 real ones. Typically now everyone I talk to wants a tame celestial lol Romeo is getting more confident going in and out of the nestbox when I am in the birdroom. I'm sure he was doing that before anyway, but just not in front of me! Juliet only comes out to do whopping big poops in the feed bowl. They've been enjoying the green leaves I've been growing down the allotment and unlike the buds they eat every last bit and don't leave any mess

Ha, ha, the mess just comes after the eating .... Ah, Murphy's law, isn't it? Everyone now wants a celestial? Have to wonder how much is heat of the moment, but if they do well, and people still interested, then you could always have a second shot at it.

Yay, fertile eggs! Go you romantic two you. Now you have the calm before the (potential) storm hits. Fingers crossed they are good parents.

Yay. Fertile eggs. Hope all goes well (and they don't ever feel the need to have the babies as a snack).

The great thing about Juliet being in the nestbox is I can just pick her up easily to trim her beak Here she is today all trimmed up The chicks are due on the 29th and 31st so she might have to have another tiny trim in a week to keep it tidy for feeding them. It grows so quickly!

Her baldness has coincided with the jiggyness that has been going on BB! So I guess its to do with Romeo hanging on!
