Just so, so sorry, Helen. How awful but perhaps a mercy that he went down so fast. Very hard to see tho. Certainly not a good day for our beloved buds. My thoughts with you and little Mojo.

Ive only just seen this post, im so so sorry tinksmum, that's awful. It sounds to me that he may have been poorly when you got him but not showing the signs, the stress of a new home can often bring these things on if they have been lurking, hence why quarantine is important if you have an existing bird and bring a new one in, not so in your case i know. Its such a lottery with these young babies, keep an eye on Mojo but im sure he will be fine. RIP little chap and a hug for mum.

I am afraid I have to agree with Skysmum in that poor sweet little Oggie must have been suffering from something all along. I am so very sorry for you and your family, Helen. You must be feeling so raw. Big hugs from me.

Thankyou Hezz My poor 10yr old daughter witnessed it too, it was so fast his deterioration, never seen anything like it, Kira is understandably very upset and scared for Mojo despite me reassuring her Mojo will be ok and we will take her to the vets to get her checked over and treated just in case. After Oggie passed she spent extra time with Mojo while I scrubbed the cage & contents, didnt go to bed until 1am, school hols here and tonight an exception to the rule. Mojo was a bit bewildered going back in the cage after it was cleaned, she didnt chirp but looked around then back at me, is there anything I should do for Mojo other than get her treated as a precaution and extra tlc?? Do birds grieve like us? Im not sure if I did the right thing but I allowed Mojo to see Oggie moments after he passed so she knew he was gone, she preened him before flying off to her fave place.

They do in their own way, Helen, and some more than others. Some go into a real depressed state, particularly if they have been mates for a long time, whereas others seem more bewildered than anything. The two I have lost caused the lost, bewildered reaction with the bird closest to them, but I guess having another bird with them so they weren't alone made things easier. I haven't worded that very well ........ when I lost Blue, I still had Sparky and Smudge, Sparky being the one close to Blue; and when I lost Fluoro, I had Smudge, Sparky and Misty, with Misty being Fluoro's special friend. I would imagine that Mojo may be a little lost of a day or two, but recover herself rather quickly, being so young. Lots of love and a vet check is about all you can do, I feel. Poor you and poor Kira. Too much to go though in such a short time. I had tears too - reminded me too much of losing Fluoro. At least with Blue and Tink we had time to prepare ........ Take care, lots of love for Kira, too.

I'm so sorry about Oggie, I hope Mojo gets a clean bill of health from the vet. You didn't do anything to make this happen, it was very bad luck but for Oggie he had a loving home and your love until his dying moment. You did absolutely all you could, some things just can't be prevented. I'm so so sorry for your loss xx
