Hi Everyone,
Hope somebody can help. My budgie had a night fright last week(first ever) it could have been a seizure, he was fine after it but has been getting spooked at nite. The recent frights are just him frozen still and sometimes flappy. the first included twitching. Up until today he was eating normally but hardly touched his seed today. He did eat a bit of spinach and a small piece of millet. His song has changed too. He normally speaks and sings but is now just tweeting a little. when i get his favorite toy his sound is like a cry. He has a clean cere and eyes but his feet are very hot, also he keeps shaking his tail to the point of excess.
He has had health issues including fatty liver.
Does anyone know what this could be?
I think i should take him to the vet.
Thanks.

Poor Columbo isn't having an easy time of it lately. I think a vet visit is needed to get any sort of answer ..... there may be more going on than you realised. I hope the vet can help, good luck and keep us posted.

Glad he is eating, but keep the vet's appointment - you never know what they might be able to tell you.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your messages. Took him to the vets today, the vet had a good look at him and I told him everything that had happened in the last week.He could find nothing physically wrong with him apart from a fatty chest which is the liver problem again. I have limited his seeds to a spoonfull a day, he has veggies like spinach and broccolli, eggs and the fatty liver has reared its head again.
The vet gave us an anti inflam,an antibiotic and a liver supplement. He also said to switch his diet to a pellet based one and said nutri berries were good. He said no seed only as a treat lots of veggies and fruit and some yogurt.
Does anyone feed thier buds pellets?? I have read they are full of corn syrup.
I dont know if i should just feed him seeds in the morning and then veggies/fruits for the rest of the day.
He is fine after his meds. Was quite funny, the vet was showing us how to give them to him with a syringe and columbo shook his head and coughed them out! Poor vet. So he will be on them for 7 days. will keep you posted. XX
