Wow. That's amazing. Great documentation work there Hezz. I wonder if she's got her eggs in there already.

Thanks, birdguhl. She does look cosy, doesn't she? stace, she is sitting at the moment so won't disturb her ....... I have tried to look - a few days ago. I am sure she measured me and made the hole just that much higher than me so I wouldn't be able to peek in!!!

Update: After risking life and limb (according to OH) to peek, I can see one little egg!!! They do usually lay/raise two chicks, so maybe there is another to come, although I can't be sure that there isn't another egg in the nest ......... the little porch roof makes it hard to see in without touching.

Some of these pictures are worthy of a magazine, how beautiful! I can see you clambering around the delicate nest as OH is muttering under his breath and the dog is jealously watching you. Quite a sight!

Move over Sir David Attenborough. Splendid photographs. How wonderful that you have this going on right before your very eyes.

marleen4, OH was muttering and so I told him to make himself useful and give me a hand instead of standing around waiting to pick up the pieces, lol!!! OP, it is lovely to watch nature at her best, but I can't lay claim to any great talent as a photographer ........ I have a beautiful subject and needs require that she must sit still! I am taking advantage of her!

Ive just caught up with this thread. Such beautiful pics , love the way she is just hanging out in her swing nest with her little head poking out . Such a long beak , but then she needs that to stitch her beautiful home together i guess. Very excited about the eggs.

Moogie, it would be great, I agree. Poor little egg was doing a bit of swinging before too - Mac had gotten the bottom of the rope caught up in his lead ........ GRRRR!! Bad dog!! But Sunny-girl is back sitting now so hopefully all is good ...... the nest wasn't swinging wildly .......just hope it wasn't too much for the egg. skysmum, it is sooo cute seeing her there - that's how she spends most of her time, only moving out when we get too close for her liking. It is a big beak for such a little bird. I was watching her preening herself over the weekend, thinking how much harder it must be compared to using the budgies' short little beaks.

Just caught up with your thread Hezz and gotta say this is fabulous! Great photos and love the fact you are documenting how she's doing. Great to hear she has laid, I just cant wait for all the future instalments! Oh and as for preening with a long beak like that, you wanna check out the sword-bill humming bird: They cant preen with that bill so they do it with their feet!
