Still sitting, Sam. Dad was chittering around me this morning; I was wondering if he was trying to tell me something ........ I haven't heard any little meeps coming from the nest yet. Looking back it would seem she laid either Oct 26 or 27th, so not 10 days yet. According to wiki, they should hatch around a week after laying ....... I really am going to have a sticky!

Update: Just been peeking and had noticed that Sunny-girl hadn't been as noticeably in the nest as before (hindsight is a wonderful tool) on Sunday, but being at work all day yesterday, thought maybe it was just my timing ....... but Sunny-Jim must definitely have been spreading the good news this morning - it looks like we have one tinsey wee chick ..... there may be two, can't really tell!! It is really hard to see into the nest. Wiki's info gives them a size of up to 12cms long. There is no way ours are that - half that at most, adding a cm or two of beak ..... the egg was about the size of the base of my thumbnail. I am excited now! PS Egg could have hatched Sunday.

The smallest little meepy sounds coming from the nest this morning! I am so happy - I had no idea yesterday if the chick was alive or not ...... still don't know if there is one or two. Yes, Sam. I am being a bit of a mother-hen here. Have to be away over the weekend, and don't want to now!

I thought the same, OP; check out the inside of the nest! How smooth and soft-looking it is. I was trying soooo hard to get a shot of the chicks ....... was trying too hard - pulled back a bit and viola! Two chicks sprung into clear view. With the cutest little meepy-meeps coming from them .......... aw......

Unfortunately I must report that the chicks didn't make it. I was concerned by late Thursday that I hadn't seen the parents feeding the chicks and then I had to be away from Fri morning. Nature is cruel sometimes, but I figure something must have been wrong, as I have seen these guys be the best of parents.
