Really good to hear things are moving in the right direction. I love budgie toy making! I have a parcel with some goodies waiting for me in the PO...

Amazing. It looks like what the natural bird company use. I am so NON creative. Wonder if they do budgie toy making classes.... They do show some ideas. Which kit did you get? So many things to choose from

Sorry for the delay in responding, I've been away since fri afternoon to visit family, just got back!
Well the first night they wouldn't go back in the cage when I put my "creation" in there. So we took it out to get them, then hung it on the outside of the cage, they got use to it a bit, then next day out it inside. By the time OH got home from work on Friday (when I went way) they were playing with it!
I do have a quests, although Maggie seems much on the mend, she is still wheezing lots, and again, worse when I get near or come in, then it stops slowly. She's had her meds a week now, I wonder how long before antibiotics kick in normally?

Guaranteed you will get as much, if not more, enjoyment making them than the budgies do out of playing with them!! Have fun!!!!! So true

I'm no expert but I'd have thought you should see an effect in a week. In what ways is she better? What do others think?

I'm no expert but I'd have thought you should see an effect in a week. In what ways is she better? What do others think? Well she's playing and much more chirpy. She's just back to herself more, not fully but definitely on the mend. Just concerned the wheezing is still there. It's not as often as before, but I think I was hoping it would have cleared up by now?

That sounds good - ABs must have been having an effect. Maybe the wheezing is just taking longer to settle. How are you giving it? Directly into mouth? Hopefully you'll get some more opinions.

yes, directly to mouth with syringe from vet. maybe it is just taking time, it had got pretty bad before w realised it was actually wheezing
I think I might call the vets tomorrow as we're getting near the end of her meds.

I would call, as you say, they will know whether to take her back in. I wonder if they are like humans, is the heating on at all? Maybe a humidifier, which you an do by putting water near any rads...

Well, we have electric heating, and that's gone on the last week or so, (after she started wheezing) but maybe waters around will help. Definitely give vet a call tomorrow, just to be safe

If you have heating on where the birds are, a simple thing to do is to put a shallow bowl or two of water around the room to add some humidity. Heaters dry the air out horribly, and simply by adding so bowls of water you can counteract this and return some humidity to the environment. Oops, sorry ffiscool, I didn't see your post!

Thanks guys, have put water near their cage. She seems to start getting better then wheezing again. Sorry I've been out for a week or more, was very poorly myself then crazy at work! Birdguhl for germinating seeds, how do you do it? I have the same germinating seeds you've mentioned. And how often do you give them?
