My big clean up involves taking the cage outside and blasting it with the hose. Then scrubbing it with mild detergent and another hose blast. Drying it with a towel then letting it sun dry. Then giving it a light spray with F10SC animal disinfectant, no rinsing and a bit more time in the sun.
I only do this occasionally. Most of the time I can clean it up in situ. But all the toys get washed regularly, all his stainless stuff and foodware goes in the dishwasher, and his perches get washed in the sink, F10'd and sun dried.
If your birds are ill and their resistance is low, you need to be really fastidious with cleaning. Last time this happened, I ordered the F10SC and continuously cleaned everything my bird was touching until he was back in full health.

Here is a floor lamp that is available in Canada and the States. I am not sure if it is available in your area. I like it because the birds don't land on it and are not tempted to chew any wires. www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5059+5690+24615&pcatid=24615The bulb is costly though that is the only downside. I have heard stories of people who's birds lost a row of hair on their backs from intense lighting being used for too long. This has never happened with my lamp no matter how long I leave it on.
